This morning, I woke up in a quiet apartment, staring at the ceiling, and realized I couldn't do this anymore.

I ended up at a little bookstore across town, wearing the same dress I was supposed to wear the night he planned to propose.

I was sitting on the floor in the fiction section, flipping through one of my favorite books, when I heard a deep voice behind me, "Ayla?"

I turned around to see my ex, standing there with a little girl clutching his hand, looking at me with remorse, and his voice gruff, "There's so much I wish I could have told you."
