Many people think they are Christians. But what if they're mistaken?

Jesus once gave a warning that still unsettles us today: "Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord…' and I will declare to them, 'I never knew you.'"

In a culture where Christianity is familiar, it is easy to assume we understand what it means to follow Jesus. Church attendance, good morals, religious traditions, or simply believing in God can all feel like enough.

But the Bible tells a very different story.

In What It Means to Be a Christian, David Knight addresses some of the most common misunderstandings about faith and explains the message at the very heart of Christianity — the gospel of Jesus Christ.

This audiobook explores:

  • what the Bible actually teaches about becoming a Christian
  • why many people misunderstand the gospel
  • the difference between religion and true faith
  • what it really means to follow Jesus

With clarity, honesty, and compassion, Knight shows that Christianity is not about tradition, culture, or trying to be a good person. It is about something far deeper: being reconciled to God through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

If you have ever wondered whether you truly understand the Christian message—or whether you may have misunderstood it—this audiobook invites you to examine the most important question anyone will ever face.

Your eternity is too important to leave to assumption.

The book is narrated by the author, which I am often partial to. The tone and inflection seems to meet the content well! The audio book met me like a friend was at my table chatting and sharing his reflections on experiences and observations. It was gentle but clear and I deeply appreciated the conversation.

I really connected with this one. It lays out the different ways people come to know God in a way that feels honest and easy to follow. One thing that stood out to me is how it shows that God isn’t just someone we’re meant to serve—He also cares for us and meets us where we are.

It also clears up a lot of the confusion people have about Christianity, especially when it comes to what the gospel actually means and why understanding it matters. I found it helpful in thinking about what it truly looks like to live faithfully, and it even made me reflect on what role personal, private faith should play in my life.

Overall, it’s the kind of book you walk away from feeling like you’ve genuinely learned something important.
