Surprised by how much I liked this

Really like the story. So many real touches on love, emotional betrayals, forgiveness. Happiness……and so much more.

Love and Redemption

A compelling story that deeply moved me. This kind of betrayal is very common in our society. It doesn’t have to occur only between lovers but also among friends and coworkers. Adam’s behavior kept the heroine at a distance, expecting her to meet his expectations. She experienced repeated emotional betrayals and feelings of humiliation. Adam is easy to forgive because he’s just a teddy bear for everyone to hug, often as a result of emotional manipulation. The story should have been shorter. The narrators accomplished an excellent performance.

Loved this story

I loved how the meddling mother and the other woman got what was coming to them. This had all the feels and made me cry. The narration was terrific. Great story!

Second Chance after being Second Place

It blows my mind when readers give a bad review to a book while fully knowing the tropes going into it. This book was genuinely really good. Yes, there were some spelling and punctuation errors, but overlooking that, the story itself delivered. The angst and drama started immediately and kept me invested the whole time. I absolutely love OW drama when it’s done right, and I appreciated that there was no cheating in this storyline.

Adam’s relationship with his childhood “friend” is the main source of tension. Everyone around them always pushed the narrative that they were each other’s person, but to Adam, she was more like a little sister. After years of being mentally manipulated by his mother into always protecting Millie, he felt obligated to drop everything anytime she needed him, even when it meant constantly leaving his fiancée hanging.

I really liked Caitlin’s growth throughout the story. Instead of continuing to settle for being second place, she chose herself and moved from Iowa back home to Oregon. Her dream was to live in her grandmother’s house and help with the family restaurant, so she finally took the leap and did it. Watching her walk away from the relationship and choose her own happiness was honestly satisfying.

Then Adam finally starts realizing just how toxic both his family and his “friend” really are, and he’s willing to fight for Caitlin instead of expecting her to continue sacrificing for him. The emotional tension, drama, and character growth made this such an enjoyable read for me.

Excellent story telling

Really loved this story. This author really know how to develop characters. Very realistic emotional journey. Don't typically like listening to a book that 14 hrs long, but this book is definitely the exception. Only thing that could make it better is if the narration was in Duet. With that said, the narrators did enhance the story line & kept me engaged. Well worth the credit. Hope Author will be writing more books & adding to the Audible format!
