Great Book - Speed Up Playback

Fun story, standard reincarnation into fantasy world, though the twist is that he is given real world reasons for being powerful without being OP. He's nothing insane, there are others just as powerful, and his earth knowledge doesn't give him really any boosts. The only real advantage he has is that his adult mind let him "start" earlier than others, that's it. His parents are powerful and have access to 'forbidden magic' that let's him kinda be OP but only a bit. Really liked the character, very "every guy" kinda vibe, the world is neat and more detailed than first expected if a little "how is it this advanced and yet still isolated". The characters are, while a little one dimensional, not boring and relate well to the story and MC.

Performance wise the narrator does a great job with inflection, different voices, and tone.

But pacing. My god the pacing, the man reads soooo slow, I had to speed it up to 1.2 just for it to sound normal. I thought I was going crazy before letting a friend listen and they agreed with me. I would honestly swear an oath that the production company just slowed down his final recording in order to pad the book length (16h 24m vs 20h 34m).

Good, but

the author did pretty good, but I'm getting a lot of "The Beginning After The End" vibes. the author here does well to try to curb most of it I think, but there is definitely room for improvement.

Good story, bad editing, terrible narration

Do yourself a favor and listen to the sample before buying. The narrator speaks so slowly, I think he was getting payed by the minute. I listened to most of it at 1.7x speed, but sometimes I had to bump it to 2x when it got even worse. They also read a lot of words incorrectly. Sometimes in a way that made no sense in context. How can you read that slowly and still get it wrong?!

It started off great but there were a number of writing issues that added up to negatively affect my enjoyment. Most I can't quite put my finger on and the ones that I can aren't worth singling out because it was only all these little things chipping away that truly hurt the story.
The one thing I will definitely point out that I didn't like was the narrator's narration voice. I've listened to books with him before and didn't remember disliking it this much, and his character voices are good, it's just the narration. It's a deep monotone with very little inflection and it's really easy to get lost in the words. I thought at first of a guided meditation voice, but I don't know... I almost want to say he sounds like an AI narrator, but that feels mean and not accurate enough.
