Page Powars
From New York Times and #1 Indies bestselling author Page Powars, a sizzling queer YA romcom about academic rivals who face off at the most competitive camp in the country. This program is read by voice actor Joshua Waters.
Rory is academic royalty.
As the heir to the most successful tutoring company in the world, he can be nothing less than perfect if he wants to gain his parents’ approval. So it's simple. Rory studies harder than anyone else. He does not make mistakes. And he never loses.
Except to Luca Melendez. The infuriatingly good-looking hockey player who wins every academic competition without even trying.
When Rory has a very public meltdown, throwing a smoothie at Luca and shattering his own public image in the process – it feels like one more thing Luca ruined.
To salvage his reputation, Rory has his sights set on winning the most cutthroat academic camp in the country, BRAIN. There is nothing standing between Rory and the final medal.
Until, Luca Melendez shows up.
This means war and Rory has the perfect plan: Make Luca fall in love with him.
And then break Luca’s heart right before the final competition.

A BL book, a beautiful representation of a trans characters where being trans isn't his whole identity, an extremely well executed enemies-to-lovers dynamic, a love arrow, the amazing character development? This book deserves many MANY awards.

I also loved, loved, loved the premise overall. Running bits like Big Papa Good Time and the Bachelor Island Ghost kept the story entertaining and consistently reminded me these are, very much, teenagers we’re dealing with. Teenagers who have all been facing intense amounts of pressure and who’re all being forced to evaluate their individual motivations and goals while on this island, like our protagonist. I am also majorly crushing on Luca but that’s neither here nor there. He’s just the sweetest.
Will definitely be checking out this author’s other work :’))
I <3 casual representation

*****SPOILERS*****
First I wanna start by saying that I only started reading bc I saw a tiktok abt THE JOSHUA WATERS reading it so I immediately wrote the date of release on my calendar. I was so excited and his performance did NOT DISAPPOINT!! I kept picturing phainon in my head lol Anyways I was a bit skeptical at first bc the mc seemed too self-depricating and at the same time pretentious but I think it balanced well w Luka being the innocent golden retriever to calm him down and keep him in check. Mind you this is the first time I even try audiobooks but both Joshua waters and the story itself kept me hooked..even gasping in shock or kicking my feet in giddyness at some points. Maybe it's bc I'm not a physics nerd but I wasn't so keen w some of the science parts that felt overexplained or unecessary for the plot. I thought the rat was funny tho lmao. I do also wish there would've been more romantic tension between Rory and Benedict to further solidify that he was a second male-lead. I was catching the hints here and there but I think I would've liked him more if he had pined a little or gotten jealous..Rory's rejection definitely would've pulled at the heartstrings more. Overall I think it's a really cute and down-to-earth story of a guy whose grand intelligence causes him to overthink his way into making mistakes vs a guy who seemingly has no thoughts behind his eyes but can win people over w his hardwork and sincerity.
