Jade Dragon had been crushed. China was forced to relent. But picking up the pieces had only just begun.

After years of conflict, the Allies emerged victorious on the battlefield. However, the world was left bruised and battle-worn. American President Maria Delgado had her hands full with the recovery efforts.

Blain Wilson would be pulled in… deeper down the rabbit hole than he intended.

Trying to avoid mistakes of the past, the United States limited its peacekeeping force and relied on allies. General Song appeared to be a leader the people of China could rally behind.

Would reconstruction efforts be enough to avoid a future war?

Soldiers who had become accustomed to war now had to readjust to peace—a return to life in a world they barely recognized. Many struggled greatly with this transition, medicating themselves with alcohol or by other means.

Who would find the strength to pull through? What nations would be the ones to rise from the ashes of war?

Find out what happened after the war ended. You'll love this exciting continuation of the Monroe Doctrine series because the characters' fates are not always what they seem.

James and Miranda left this series wide open to continue for several more volumes. which i cannot complain about one little bit.

Great story

Nice to know what happened to the various persons from the series….and they managed to provide a new chapter to the saga which effectively add new dimensions to the world’s newest developments. Very well done.

Great follow-up the the series

This was a great series and the performance was excellent as well.

If this is the end, it does leave us with a future conflict brewing, and I hope there will be more books to conclude that conflict.

Great series

Once again top-notch science-fiction. The character development of well-known characters is excellent. Eagerly awaiting the finish of Jade Dragon if that’s even possible.

Wow!

I’ve been a fan of the Monroe Doctrine audio book series from the beginning. The tech storyline, action, character development and performance have been top notch.

Unfortunately, almost all of these were missing in this latest release. The performance was still fantastic, expressive, rich storytelling, but that’s the only positive part of the story.

While there was still lots of tech-porn, it became as interesting as a instruction manual without the excitement I’d come to expect from the authors. Way too much time was spent creating content without engaging context. Whole chapters dedicated to background storylines, side characters and meaningless dialogue left me with the impression that this was a forced project. It lacked all the elements that made the series a must listen.

Maybe the publisher had the authors under contact for specified number of books, and they just wanted to get the series over with. That’s the level of effort this book appears to have been given.

Lost potential

The story and read performance was good as a standalone. However, it brings the series down IMO. This is either a transition to the next book or a way to end something leaving the future to the listeners' imagination. I don't like transition books this late in the series. Even worse, I honestly hate the kinds of books (and even more TV shows that end prior to resolving the big plots). I understand the difficulty in resolving everything. But to undo that which you resolved in the prior book was not cool. Take the story to the end or you lose me. Spoiler alert... nations look to take advantage of the spoils of war, which is realistic. But, they spent a lot of time working up to the epic conclusion of killing JD in book 8. OK, end it there. The world is now safe again. That is the best way to end a book series IMO. This book ends with a threat of where AI will go in the future, New and old. The AI escaping at end is not a new story and has been done over and over again. It is a horrible way to end your story. Was the struggle in the last books worth it with this ending? I am not sure and that is not where you want to leave your series/story.

Please, don't play the game where they are trying to leave us with a warning or to get us to think. That warning has been overdone and quite frankly, nobody with the power to do anything about it is listening. We are accelerating to AI because people with money and power can't stand the idea that someone else will win the AI war and take their money and power away from them. This is leading them to not taking appropriate precautions. Thus, the AI they make will kill us all in the end or treat us the way we treat animals today. At least give us some pieces of literature to keep us entertained until we are no longer around to enjoy it.

Dont listen for closure
