Was Hitler an atheist? The answer is sometimes ambiguous. Some political pundits claim Hitler was an atheist, and others claim he was Christian. In the turbulent years of Nazi Germany, Adolf Hitler cynically used both the Protestant and Catholic churches to strengthen his grip on power.

Although some religious leaders opposed him, many either accepted or actively supported his ascent. How and why did these powerful institutions allow themselves to become tools of a brutal dictatorship? This book explores the complex relationship between the churches and Hitler's regime.

Owen has a soothing reading voice so I appreciated that with such a heavy topic. I appreciate the level of commitment to finding answers

This was a balanced and fair examination of Hitler’s religious beliefs, but more importantly, it’s an examination of the beliefs that drove those who supported him. Also, Owen did a good job reading his own work. Worth the read!

Well-written and researched

However his personal beliefs tended, he weaponized the church in his conquest and the church let it happen. Owen highlights how differently events might have unfolded, had church leaders not served their own self-interests.

This audiobook book may have a few editing errors. A few sections were repeated, though I realize Owen may have been reading page highlights in line with the text. I don't know, since I haven't seen a physical copy, yet.
