If you’re a fan of Emilia Finn’s books like I am, you may have met Felix in the Mayet Justice series as the annoying Mafia boss brother of Detective Archer Malone. I was so excited to visit the darker underworld to peel back the layers on the enigma that is Felix! He’s such a complex character! One minute he’s all witty banter and innuendo, and the next he’s the ruthless mafia boss ready to kill in order to protect his family. He was born into a life he never wanted, but he will do whatever needs to be done to ensure his brothers are happy. He may be a villain by most people’s standards, but I couldn’t help but love him. The true villain is their father who’s actions were beyond description in their horror. This story was an exciting ride full of twists and turns, drama, angst, action, emotion, passion, and loyalty. As a fan of the Mayet Justice series, I loved seeing Minka, Archer, Cato, and Tim show up from Copeland City. However, plenty of context was provided that you can definitely enjoy this book as a standalone! I was so shocked by the direction this plot went at times! What an awesome book!! I can’t wait for the next one!!

The audio narrated by Audrey Obeyn and Dane Anderson really brought these characters to life!! Every plot twist, action scene, and all the spice felt even more intense!! I highly recommend this version!!😍

Delicious Mafia Story

The Tallest Tower was full of adventure as it introduced Felix Malone, one of the five Malone brothers, and Christabelle Cannon, a reporter who was fascinated with shedding light on the complex Malone family. Emilia's magical writing will have you hooked from the beginning and keep you flipping to find out what happens next!

I devoured this story as it followed Felix and Christabelle, two very strong-willed characters who went toe to toe with each other from the moment they met. Felix was the Don working tirelessly to protect his family and keep their businesses running, and he was taken off guard by Christabelle with her passionate personality as she stood up to Felix no matter how powerful he was.

The brilliant story presented Felix and Christabelle as intelligent and feisty, but also soft when they wanted to be vulnerable with each other. And oh Felix... you won my heart once you became a big softie for Christabelle. And the spice was beyond magical once they could no longer resist!

🎧 Dane Anderson and Audrey Obeyn kept me on the edge of my seat as they brought Felix and Christabelle to life. I honestly forgot that Dane was reading to me, instead of Felix, because his New York/Mafia accent was so extremely believable. And then Aubrey provided her smooth voice for Christabelle, alternating from weak to angry to sweet with no hesitation. And they both did a magnificent job of providing distinct voices for the other male and female characters, so it was like listening to multiple narrators talk in a chapter. Highly recommended!! 🔥😍

Great Book, Not Great Narration

I love this book, I love this series. I love the author. Had I not read the book first this narration would have ruined it for me.
The female narrator was not the best. Her voice for the main character was ok but the side characters were excruciating. Over the top whiny where the scene did not call for it or incredibly stilted. People do not speak like this!
The male narration had at least a more natural cadence, even with a ridiculous NY accent. Joe Pesce in My Cousin Vinnie seems to be the inspiration for this role.
