Great story, awesome narrator!

Good series and enjoyable read, a great series to start a person on their lifelong love of sci-fi.

Content with what I got

This was a good way to end the series. Spensa got some MUCH needed character development, in my opinion. The action wasn't at the level I would expect of Sanderson, but it was entertaining enough. I could understand if someone were to say the final battle was a little anticlimactic. For me though, it was a solid enough conclusion that I'm content with my purchase of the book.

Brandon can definitely write

I've known that Sanderson was an exceptional talent the many years, but I just can't get into most fantasy, so when he wrote an SF series, I jumped at the chance. He didn't disappoint. I strongly encourage science fiction, and space opera fans to pick this up in whatever format you choose. Defiant is the conclusion to the Spensa Nightshade Arc, although, there's plenty to do in this universe.

The dialogue is superbly written, and as one reviewer noted, Gran Gran has one of the best monologues in recent memory at the end of chapter 30.

Best series I’ve ever listened to

I could listen to Suzy Jackson read a dictionary and be totally immersed. She is an amazing narrator that gives life to all of the characters in every book she narrates. I actually came across this series of Brandon Sanderson’s by searching for books that were narrated by Suzy Jackson after hearing her narrate a series my young daughter really enjoys. I couldn’t be happier that I did.
I’ve listened to this entire series through 3 times. I didn’t realize there was this 1 last book, newly released. I have been crying through these last two hours of the story, mostly in empathy of the characters that Brandon has so skillfully created in his vast compelling universe but also because I didn’t want this story to END!
If you enjoy sci-fi/fantasy space stories with action and adventure, character growth, classic good vs evil, surprises and a storyline that compels you to know more….experience MORE of this world then I encourage you to pick up Brandon Sanderson’s Skyward series. You won’t be disappointed.

Good book meh ending

The voice talent wasn't able to capture the same voice differentials for each character in this book. Overall, I think the book was okay but I think it could have been a little bit more time on the climax of the story given it was the series finale. Spoiler alert I also found it very anti climactic. To just drop the grandmother as captain of the ship. We didn't see that right now. Maybe we will later but it just appeared out of nowhere. So much of the book was a little spicy and very strange for brandon fingers and who is a very good excellent awesome story weaver. So overall. I still would recommend that you read the book or listen to It. And I will still follow the series onto the legacy.

Great ending to the series

Very enjoyable and worth the wait. Liked how he kept true to the characters throughout the entire series and am looking forward to the new series.

Great character build up

I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and their relationships. I love how he wrote the story from multiple points of view. Brandon Sanderson does an amazing job of helping you fall in love with his characters and feel the ups and downs of all their emotions! What a lovely story. I will recommend this series to everyone!

An emotional end to a fun series

There isn't much to say about Defiant. If you like the first three books then this one won't disappoint. For me, the first book was definitely the high point of the series. The second and third books built on that, and though they were less entertaining, they were still enjoyable. Defiant brought everything together to a satisfying end.
