  • 104: When Calm Feels Impossible: A Nervous System Lens on Parenting Anger.
    Jun 30 2025

Calling all unicorns who never get frustrated or angry! This episode isn't for you 😉

Ok, let's be real. The true statistic is 100% of parents have those moments where they snap, shout, or shut down... and then feel awful.

You want to stay calm. You want to be patient. But sometimes it just… takes over.

In this episode, we’re talking about anger from a completely new perspective - your nervous system's point of view.

Because underneath the yelling or frustration is something really important: a nervous system doing its best to protect you.

We’ll unpack what’s actually going on when you’re triggered, why logic alone doesn’t help in the heat of the moment, and how to start building emotional safety — not just for your kids, but for you too.

    You’ll learn:

✅ Why anger isn’t the enemy, it’s an intelligent body signal

✅ What your nervous system is trying to protect you from

✅ Real tools to regulate (the experts know and use these)

This isn’t about getting it perfect. It’s about getting curious.

Because when you understand your own triggers, you parent from a place of power, not pressure.

This is only for people ready to learn the deep wisdom and understanding of the body, we're not talking quick fixes or mantas like "my child isn't giving me a hard time, they're having one". These are nice but not effective in the heat of the moment.

  • 103: When Your Child Sees or Hears Explicit Content: How We Explained Inappropriate Content using Emotional Intelligence.
    Jun 25 2025

Today we share a real-life moment when our child heard SUPER inappropriate language online. We talk about how we responded, how we used emotional intelligence to stay connected, and how to set boundaries without shame. If you're navigating tricky online influences with your kids, this is a must-listen.

Ever had one of those blindsiding parenting moments where your child’s world collides with the internet’s wilder side, right in your living room?

In this episode, my husband (yep, he’s back!) and I unpack last night’s heart-pounding scene: an innocent game, a friend’s shock-value words no ten-year-old should hear, and the split-second choice between clamping down or leaning in.

We walk you through the raw, real-time conversation we had with our kids, how we drew a firm new boundary without losing trust, and why emotional intelligence (not punishment) turned a potential meltdown into a masterclass in connection.

You’ll hear two perspectives (one mum, one dad, two different upbringings) and leave with practical scripts, nervous-system-savvy tips, and a fresh lens on raising kids who come to you, rather than hide from you, when things get messy.

This conversation might just rewrite the way you handle the next “Wait… they said WHAT?!” moment.

Hallelujah that this podcast exists! We could all use the ability to respond in an intelligent way to our kids. Teaching them the best way to handle tough situations. we don;t have to have all the answers, but knowing how to respond in a manner that brings about compassion, understanding and kindness will speak volumes to young minds.

A great voice for a much needed topic!
