Publisher's summary

Wealth of Lies is the prequel to the suspenseful romance thriller, Reflections.

John Barrington (Reflections) told Jeff (Reflections) that the history and wealth of his family were built on a foundation of lies. Some secrets went to the grave of John’s father, Bernard. During John’s childhood, Bernard Barrington, was distant and he never knew why. Even finding the love of his life, Josephine, couldn’t prevent the path that lay before Bernard. In this novel, you find out what lies laid the foundation of the family and how those lies rippled across time to affect the lives of the Barrington clan.

Boxed in, trapped, and caged were all of the ways Josephine, a seamstress, felt her mother wanted to keep her. Josephine Epstein would not live the life her mother wanted her to, nor would she allow anyone to deny her the love of her life, Bernard Barrington. He came from a world of privilege and wealth. Josephine came from a world of hard work and deception. Little did they know that both of their lives had been shaped by their family secrets. But, neither would be bound by them.

As Josephine navigated the world of her former high school peers, she saw, all too well, what her mother was denied. But, she was not her mother; she wouldn’t be denied. Wealth, prestige, respect, and Bernard would all be hers. But, at what cost?

This story merges the worlds of the working class, the wealthy, and the mob to provide a story of romance, suspense and thrills. Just like in Reflections, you are in for a shock!

Hidden Gem

What a hidden Gem! I'm so glad that I discovered this Author. Her writing skills were brilliantly crafted how she painted a clear picture of the characters and overall storyline. It was never a dull moment and kept me wanting to know what was going to happen next. It's a great prequel to her book series Reflections. It's full of suspense and surprises with a shocking ending. Hands down I recommend this book to everyone as a must read.

Dark Romance

Josephine is of mixed race, but passes for a white woman. Born into a financially struggling household with a vindictive and jealous mother, her life seems hopeless until she meets Bernard Barrington, a white man from a rich family. It’s love at first sight for these two, but there are many obstacles to their happily ever after. And as their lives take a much darker path, it seems as if happy ever after is an impossibility.
What a ride. This book is not what it seems at first. Starting off as a romance in the first half, the s second half is full of suspense, lies, and murderous schemes. But that is the author’s strength to completely blow the reader’s mind as the story takes a direction they don’t see coming. Josephine is a very likeable and relatable protagonist while Bernard is at first the typical white and shining armor until you see not everything is so bright underneath. The story is full of surprises with a vast array of different genres mixed in it including romance, suspense, crime fiction, and drama. A great prequel to a very promising series.

Listened obsessively

I am truly impressed by the number of characters and relationships, both good and bad that the author was able to develop so well that I began to feel I was part of them.

Despite there being concurrent storylines and several characters with secrets, the author and narrator were able to make you aware of everything that was going on with no confusion and impart passion into the book where needed, so that you could feel each character’s angst.

I will definitely look for more from both this author and narrator and I would definitely recommend this book.
