Review: Rebel Hearts 1: Rebel Hearts

Rebel Hearts by Lili Valente is the first book in her Rebel Hearts series. This is the story of Danny and Samantha. We first met Danny in the To The Bone series as Caitlin's younger brother. You do not have to read the previous series to thoroughly enjoy Danny & Sam's story.

Danny and Sam have been inseparable since they were 13. But things have happened in their lives since then. Sam is in College in LA and Danny is running his own extreme tours company in Croatia. They spend time together when they can and remain head over heels for each other but the distance is growing between them. Sam has a dark secret she is running from and Danny just can't quite work out what isn't right but he knows it is something. Told in dual POV, this book ends on an emotional cliffhanger and will leave you eagerly waiting to jump into book two, Savage Hearts. Emotional, gritty, and a lot sexy and romantic. Enjoy!

The audio narration was engaging and on-point for the characters. Both performers managed to be both vulnerable and fierce at the right time throughout this story when needed. They really brought Danny & Sam to life!

Secrets may rip them apart

Get ready for an emotional ride. Samantha and Danny were young love that was the forever kind. They both had to deal with family drama and Danny had to move away. They continued their long distance relationship until things all went wrong for Sam. She needed to get away and Danny was her only option.

Sam and Danny leave the country and their luck couldn't get worse. It seemed everything went wrong. Sam was barely holding it together when the thin line she was holding too finally broke and the truth of why she left her home and family came to the forefront.

Nelson Hobbs and Lili Valente do a great job with the emotion of Danny and Sam.

This is book 1 of 2 and what an emotional ride. This is a love story but with dark edges and outside the norm. Love Sam and Danny's journey and highly recommend it.

The story of Sam and Danny is not a simple love story of boy meets girl. Although it start out that way when Sam and Danny meet as children and grow into adolescence together, life and it's challenges pull them apart. Now when they finally comes back together Sam has a secret. She's distant and withdrawn and Danny can't put his finger on what happened during their time apart. When the truth comes out will they be able to weather the storm or is their untested love destined to fail?
I can not wait for the next book in this series because this one will definitely leave you with a cliffhanger.

Beautiful, angsty love

Danny and Samantha both stole my heart. Their love is one of those rare not quite love at first sight, but pretty close after. Being together for years, their relationship hits a few snags, then one big one neither of them could have imagined. They'll not only be tested as a couple, but also individually. Do they have what it takes to save each other, while not losing themselves? For me, this played out like a suspenseful movie, with several moving parts, and you never knew where something was going to come and twist things around. I can't say much more without spoiling it, so I'll stop here, and just urge you to grab this book NOW!!

There is definite angst in this tale, which isn't my favorite thing, but Danny and Sam kept me on the edge of my seat not wanting to wait to turn the page. Next thing I know, I'm at the end of this book with my heart beating a mile a minute!

I listened to the audiobook, so I really got the feels with Danny, Samantha, and their families.
Granted, there is a cliffy at the end, but Savage Hearts is available for you to keep going and see how it all ends.

One heck of a ride!

OMG this book is soooooo good!! Took my emotions on quite the rollercoaster ride! Danny and Samantha are amazing characters and will definitely win your hearts with their long time special love, their struggles and how they balance each other out. Great narration makes an awesome story even better and Nelson and Lili are absolutely fantastic as Danny and Sam!! I love the back in forth from past to present and what a great storyline this. I love Lili Valente's romcoms, but this talented lady can rock the heck out of anything she writes. I am one of those rare people who loves a good cliffy but now I absolutely cannot wait for Savage Hearts! I need to know what is going to happen next!
