Always a fighter and a gamer, Lila finds herself in a dungeon with two dumbass guardians and a monster to kill. After she escapes the dungeon, her gamer life is then enslaved to a demon who has only one thing on his mind: training her to kill his new opponent, an NPC named Maddie Vies.

Lila finds that her ever-increasing powers save her yet leave her wanting or yearning for the darker side of her nature. She loves the fighting and sometimes that scares her a little when she thinks of what her twin might think. Lila also finds that she has an admirer and not sure what to think about it yet she doesn't want to dissuade him either. Action-packed and the story keeps you captivated.

Lila Finds Her Calling

There are new players (3 sisters, Jessica, Dahlia, and Lila, who've logged into Puatera through a backdoor), and they find themselves literally sucked into the game. They're  alone, stranded in an impossible situation, and on top of that, it's a very glitchy game!
As the title indicates, this tale is all about Lila, and she seems like the most competent player of the three, which is good because whatever is controlling the game seems to have thrown her into the Deep end of the pool. The pain is real, and she needs to play like her life depends on it!

You'll want (or need) to get the other books in this series so you can find out what's happening with Lila's sisters, but don't worry, I'm certain you're gonna like them too! Actually all the story threads are coming together so you're gonna need to play, catch up...

What fun...

An enjoyable, engaging and distinctly darker continuation of the Magic Sequence portion of Puatera Online.

Pros: The main character was understandable, the game world that they end up trapped inside makes sense and unlike many LitRPG/GameLit books, while there is acknowledgment of player stats and a leveling mechanic in the game, it does not get bogged down in the details of that end of the game mechanics. The character takes a much darker turn than her sisters, although the reasons for that are made clear over time. The story also shows a twist in that some of the NPCs are shown to be potentially truly self-aware, including knowledge that they exist in a game and that the game is glitching.

Cons: Only one minor Con for this book, and it is a matter of preference. The story starts off full en media res, with the main character experiencing glitches when entering (and being trapped) in the game. Lila's personality and situation are established adequately quickly, but this is definitely not the book to start off with for a person new to either Puatera Online or the Magic Sequence within the greater series. The books with Lil'a sisters, on the other hand, could be used for a starting point even for those unfamiliar with the series.

Overall: 4/5 stars, and recommend for anyone looking for a quick, fun listen. You will want to hear more about Puatera and Lila, Dahlia and Jessica after this!
