How to be Your Own Boss

As with many of these types of books, they are giving advice on how to become your own boss, or entrepreneur. The book is really about how to get off the ground in a variety of self-promotional or self-paced careers that are not done from behind a desk. The book gives information on how this is done in each state and who to contact to get further information. It is not about resting on one's laurels but rather the work that would go into establishing oneself in a variety of careers.

The book gives quite a lot of ideas. I do feel that it's possible this information might be easier to take in in written form due to format and content of the book. The performance of the narrator is also less of a factor as this is not a dramatic book, even in the nonfiction sense where stories might be told. It is very informational. Overall, a good resource.

Good practical information

If you are thinking about starting your own business, this is a do not miss book. It has several realistic ideas about what you might be able to do, what you will need to get started, how much money you could make and some things you need to know. It is a well researched book with a good amount of information. Several interesting possibilities! Also, the narration is easy to listen to very well done. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

Interesting ideas for self employment

I had hoped to find my dream career even though I am a disabled woman facing retirement. But this good gave some general great ideas if you are looking at stepping out on your own and you have the ability to take the right steps from the beginning. Each job is broken down into what skills you need, what education you might need, tools you will need up front, licensing,how to find perspective clients and what kind of money you should expect to make as well as how and when you will get paid. Some gigs will pay cash or check at time of service, others you will invoice and wait for payments.

Quite educational, the narrator's voice kept me interested even when getting into the nitty-gritty of a job that sounded unappealing to me from the get go.

What a SMART audiobook!

I honestly didn't know what to expect when I first got this audiobook- boy was I pleasantly surprised!

This is a very thorough and detailed audiobook. Even though I wasn't necessarily interested in EVERY job presented in the book, I nevertheless listened to all of them because the information was so interesting and well-presented. The author did a great job detailing the many things someone should consider before embarking on a particular job.

The author describes the skills and training needed for each job, the necessary equipment, the states that require a license, how much you'll earn and the way you'll be paid (cash, check, invoices, etc.), how to find customers/clients, and the down sides to each job.

This book gave me ideas for jobs that I've never considered, such as being a sign language translator/interpreter, a taxidermist, a well-digger, an underwater logger, a limo driver, an aquarium manager, a crime scene cleanup person and a worm harvester, to name a few.

The narrator had a pleasant voice, and he presented the material in a highly engaging manner.
