A systematic work on the love of God by a great saint in the faith. St Francis de Sales brings the reader into the realm of eternal love by the truth and revelations he himself received by the grace of God. Treatise on the love of God was completed after his well known work Introduction to the Devout Life. St Francis touches on many subjects throughout this extensive piece, including the following: the heavenly birth of divine love, the progress and perfection of love, the exercises of holy love in prayer, and the commandment of loving God above all things. A marvelous work of literature for the child of God, whether Protestant or Catholic. Whether young or old, may you truly be blessed as you listen to this book!

I wasn't sure what listening to a book like this would be like, but the narrator gives great and natural emphasis and inflection. I loved the information and enjoyed listening to this.

My only complaint is that Audible did not break up the sub-chapters for when I wanted to go back and find something in the book.

Having read his more popular Introduction to the Devout Life (which I would also recommend similarly) this was a good follow-up, and very similar. This text is a bit more general & theological but still exhortative, just less systematic in it's advice for spiritual disciplines, which makes sense given the title (it's a treatise). That said St. Frances de Sales' enthusiastic and pious voice shines through just as strongly, and the reader does a good job at conveying these qualities, along with his earnest simplicity.

Spiritually Enriching

"I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request, via Audiobook Boom, and have voluntarily left this review."
The concept that I was expecting from reading the blurb was not really given to me. I love God and was looking for some extra ideas on showing that love. Perhaps they were in there but I missed them. Perhaps I was expecting too much. Perhaps it was too deep for me to understand. I don't think so but again this is my opinion.
