Talk about bang for your buck. This is more for the serious study of rhetoric and communication. It’s dense with its own vernacular and glossary. This beast deserves a couple of reads (both book and audio) to grasp the sheer sum of content. Doing so would be a good investment into yourself.

Rhetoric like breathing.

Both we do without thinking, both we can do better with training. This one is a must for anyone.

Worth A Listen

There is a lot of content and information in this book, I'll have to go back and listen to it again and hopefully absorb more from it. But it is entertaining and informative in the art of rhetoric, with several good examples.I would recommend it to anyone interested in rhetoric.

Required Reading

Just like the author suggests, this should be required reading for anyone who considers themselves educated.

Respectable approach to sophists

This book is a lengthy lesson that shares many details, but does not stress them. There are some decent storytelling examples to support the lessons along the way.
I will probably need to read this again to absorb many of the lessons, and I as a person, probably won’t… unfortunately.

great book

Heinrich offers great insight into different conversational methods, offers different approaches for conversations, and does a great job explaining how and why certain arguments do and don't work, as well as how some are better than others.

Started out great, got longwinded and boring.

It when from rather interesting to really boring as it went on and I cannot follow all the jargon. I'd ditch the Latin and use layman's terms. Understanding how to use rhetoric to manipulate people and how to detect it is practical. I have no use for the Latin/jargon. The examples where sometimes ridiculous and felt more like thought experiments. Overall it was interesting but not very practical advise.

Rhetoric made fun

Definitely fun to listen to and learn from. This is a reward you want to take notes from, re read it and learn deeper from the second time around.

Teaching the left how to argue with the right

The book strongly leans toward one political view, making it clear that the author prefers a liberal perspective. This shows up in how arguments are presented, the examples used, and the overall tone of the book. Unfortunately, this can make the book less interesting for people who don't agree with this viewpoint.
