Tedious!

I’ve been reading Trollope for 45 years, so I consider myself a super fan, but this study in sexual jealousy is tedious and dreary. There is little plot and the love stories are all predictable. There is a tiny bit of excellent comic relief. I only finished this because I’m stubborn. The narration was very good.

I enjoy Trollope ' s storytelling style. Complex characters and always a mix between tragedy and a happy ending.

Strangely fascinating

When I realized I'd committed myself to more than a day's worth of Victorian literature, I was not psyched. I couldn't find anything particularly novel in the plot or characters but it's clear why this is considered among Trollope's best work. It kept my interest from beginning to end with the insightful analysis of the space between each character's intentions and the results of his or her actions and the even wider gulf between those and the perceptions of all the other characters which are all, by the way, different. The production is a little basic to give the performance five stars but the narrator has a pleasant voice, an engaging speech pattern and does a very good job of suggesting different characters though he shouldn't try to pass himself off as an American any time soon.

A lovely book

I enjoyed the telling of the various families. Although it was very boring at points, overall a nice story.
Narrator is, as always, wonderful. Always enjoying hearing his voice

Wonderful Old England

I enjoy any thing Old England, from where my ancestors all came, and Trollope does it best! This book is long but the better by which I can knit, crochet, clean .....
