When Delia chose to major in archaeology, she imagined herself as the female Indiana Jones of the Southwest. She didn't imagine herself crawling through abandoned mine shafts, scrounging for rusty pickaxes and gold pans to sell on auction sites, but Indiana Jones didn't have to make student loan payments.

Scouring the mountains of Arizona with Simon, her best friend and computer geek extraordinaire, Delia dreams of turning their scavenging enterprise into a legitimate business. More, she longs to earn the respect of peers who shun her for turning into a treasure hunter. What she doesn't dream of is stumbling across a decapitated body in an old mine near Prescott.

Something dangerous has come to the mountains, and two Harley-riding strangers are the only ones who seem to have a clue. They speak a language Delia has never heard and carry mysterious artifacts she's never seen. Investigating these strangers might lead her to discoveries that change the face of archaeology forever.... Or it might lead her and her best friend into a deadly monster's lair.

overall decent, but read like the author wasn't familiar with the area and local language. Javelin is pronounced hah-veh-lee-nah. but at least they didn't try saguaro, or Tempe. lol

not what I was used by her, but not bad.

Good start building story line and characters.
Then the story was shuffled with aliens- 2 different kinds. Then a wild swing with a sword.

Interesting plot-very Syfy

Great premise, decent story progression. Characters I can root for, and unanswered questions to be answered like who are the real villains in the saga. I'm hooked. I have to find out how the history angle weaves in to the story to explain all the action happening to our heroes.

Author and narrator are a good team. I want more. And I also want an Alex of my very own....to watch mow and do stuff around the house. I may be an elderly widow, but I'm not dead yet.

Liked it a lot, also liked narrator

This is one of my favorite authors when I’m looking for a fun simple story. The narration could have been better. I think with the right narrator, the story would have been much funnier.

Fun simple story

I’ve recently been reading some very long fantasy series so I was looking for something short that would be fun before embarking on another long one. The story is short and fun with relatable characters. It’s not super complex and is accessible without being bland. Lindsay Buroker did a great job on this one! Only voted down one star because the voice actor made some of the characters seem off somehow. But still worth a read if you’re looking for a short fun book.

Interesting story!
