“A solid space adventure [that] charts the evolution of an antihero almost as chilling as Darth Vader.”—Publishers Weekly
On the run from vengeful Republic forces, Dessel, a cortosis miner, vanishes into the ranks of the Sith army and ships out to join the bloody war against the Republic and its Jedi champions. There Dessel’s brutality, cunning, and exceptional command of the Force swiftly win him renown as a warrior. But in the eyes of his watchful masters, a far greater destiny awaits him.
As an acolyte in the Sith academy, studying the secrets and skills of the dark side, Dessel embraces his new identity: Bane. But the true test is yet to come. In order to gain acceptance into the Brotherhood of Darkness, he must defy the most sacred traditions and reject all he has been taught. It is a trial by fire in which he must surrender fully to the dark side—and forge from the ashes a new era of absolute power.

I know this is completely nerdy of me to say, but I absolutely loved this book!It was my first Star Wars book. It came highly recommended and I can now see why. The story line was believable and you really get to know and understand the characters. There was always enough action and twists to keep the story engaging, but not too many to detract from the actual story line.
On top of that, the performance was extraordinary! There was music and sound effects that, admittedly, made me giggle at first, but then really added something special to the story. They picked a great person to read the story. Davis's voice was almost seductive and made me want to keep coming back to listen. Each Character sounded different and he was really able to show emotion through his words.
I must admit, I did not get much work done while I listened to this audio book! Great Read! Your credits will not be wasted!

This book is very brave, in a sense that it shows the reader the "bad guy", the "villain", the outcast. it's a completely different point of view. It had to show you his reasons, and make you believe and see sense in them. It's much easier to do this for a Hero, because we see ourself's being the saviors of our realitys, we wish for it. But what if your reality is far too broken to be saved? if you have no way to escape your fate?
I hope you give this book a chance.
Peace is a lie, and Honor means nothing for the dead.

Where does Path of Destruction rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
One of the top 3. The story was excellent and exciting. Never a dull moment.Who was your favorite character and why?
Giddeon (sp?) was a ruthless Sith apprentice that had me fascinated by her character. She made real world decisions and didn't shy away from difficult choices.Have you listened to any of Jonathan Davis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes. All were excellent. The added sound effects and voice characterizations made for a even more lively story. Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I wish I could! It killed me to break it up and only listen to it when I had spare time. I kept sneaking in listens here and there.Any additional comments?
Get the entire trilogy! It was great seeing Bane's adventure from a nobody to one of the most menacing forces in the universe.Incredible and gripping story & narrator!
