This sequel to Aztec returns to the Mexico of the conquistador.

The young Aztec leader, Tenamáxtli, courageously refuses to bow to his foreign rulers, vowing revenge on the Spaniards who have conquered and destroyed his society. Driven to rebuild the Aztec Empire, Tenamáxtli secretly recruits an army to fight the seemingly invincible Spanish forces. His quest takes us through high adventure, passionate women, unlikely allies, bright hope, and bitter tragedy.

Guided by exhaustive research into practically every facet of life in 16th-century Mexico, Aztec Autumn vividly recreates a forgotten chapter of history after the Spanish Conquest and grants listeners insight into the ancient culture that still influences modern Mexico.

I am a big Gary Jennings fan. Aztec and the Journeyer are 2 of my all time favorites. I just felt that this book fell short of getting you to identify with and connect with the characters. Maybe it was the difference, between the reading and listening, or even comparing it with Aztec, but I just didn’t really love this one. I still think that the creative writing was incredible and the way Gary brings images to life is great.

Not nearly as good as Aztec

I read some negative reviews on here and was a little concerned. I read the first book twice and wanted to enjoy this one as well.
I thought it was excellent. I liked the reader, and the story. hopefully someone does the first book, I'd like to hear that.

really enjoyed it

Interesting story. A bit difficult to follow as far as the many indigenous peoples names, it became confusing. The story dragged in the beginning. I enjoyed the first book far more.

Frustration of the indigenous people
