Being old and wise, Clunk knows there's a catch, but at first it doesn't seem too bad. He just has to help a freelancer pick up some cargo. Unfortunately, Hal Spacejock - the freelancer - is obstinate, over-confident, and woefully under-skilled, and he's never going to let a lowly robot fly his precious ship. Is there any chance this pair of misfits can lift off, collect the cargo and deliver it in one piece?

Publisher's Summary
After interstellar con man Rex Nihilo hijacks a cargo freighter on a whim, he decides that he, and his long-suffering robot sidekick Sasha, have found their calling as space pirates. But when the ship's cargo turns out to be a cryogenically frozen religious fanatic who holds the secret to a vast galactic conspiracy, Rex and Sasha find themselves on the run from real pirates - as well as agents of the oppressive Malarchy, crazy space cultists, and the Ursa Minor mafia. If Rex is going to get out of this jam alive, he might just have to save the galaxy - again.

Great Story with Bonus Novella, Recording needs review.
Another great story in the Rex Nihilo universe. Funny, fast-paced, and inventive. This audible version includes a bonus novella starring Pepper Melange. The recording does need to be re-edited. The quality is fine but there are several instances of repeated words and repeated sentences. These can be distracting and take you out of the moment.

Space!
What a fun story! I really enjoyed the continuing adventures of Rex Nihilo and Sasha. After listening to the first book and LOVING the narration by Kate Rudd I was initially disappointed with the narration from JD Ledford, but as the story went on it grew on me more. Though I still hope they get Rudd bak for the next book. Either way I'm looking forward to more space adventures with Rex and crew.

Fun, but not as good as the first
I loved the first book! The second is fun, with great narration, & new characters that I hope we hear me from. We also got some great character development at the end setting us up for the next book. Overall though, that's the thing, book two feels like a course correction & prep for what comes next.

Insanely funny.
This audiobook was full of chaotic ridiculousness, laugh out loud confusion, and comedic characters that make your eyes roll while smiling.
"Aye, Robot" is a crazy spacefaring adventure of pure comedy. While it is technically a sequel to "Starship Grifters" and still features the main characters, Sasha and Rex Nihilo, "Aye, Robot" doesn't really require listening to the first book in order to fully appreciate it. Laughter is the likely outcome either way.
The narrator for this audiobook is J.D Ledford and if she sounds a bit robotic at first, well, that's intentional; This story is told from the first person perspective of Sasha, Rex Nihilo's loyal but unappreciated robot sidekick. J.D Ledford's vocal range becomes more apparent and more impressive as the audiobook introduces more and more quarky characters; frustrated robots, drunken pirates, bug aliens, irritated old men, pious cult members, parrots...the list goes on. When you finally get to a bonus short story featuring a side character, Pepper, the strength of this narrator's talent is very obvious. There were a few instances of audio editing errors when a line is spoken twice, but these were easily ignored in light of everything else.
This audiobook is very highly recommended to anybody who needs a good clean laugh. There is no intellectual science fiction here. It's all goofy comedic gold centered around the insane antics of a theif, liar, and wannabe pirate in space.

Even better than the 1st
Very funny. Highly entertaining. If you're looking for some serious hard sci-fi that's certain to become a classic, thought provoking work of art then this is not the book for you. But if you are looking for some light sci-fi that is fairly predictable and makes you laugh out loud often then this is definitely the right choice. The humor is great, the writing solid, the narration is spot on. No complaints whatsoever.

Good, but different narrator
This is an excellent sequel in the Rex Nihilo series, but it is a different narrator. It's a good narrator, very similar to the first. but still jarring at first if you listen to them back -to-back. Put something else in between them and you might not notice.

narration ruined this book for me
Somehow the narrator has a score of 4.6 for this work, I strongly disagree with this. The narrator of the first book did a great job and i loved the performance and the story. Here we get a new narrator who tries to speak robotic, taking breaks after every 2 words. If even modern GPS systems can speak more fluent then this it is not even annoying but also unbelievable.
The story itself is still great and that part i enjoyed alot. I'm going to look for more work from this writer and hope narration is more to my taste.

Narration took some getting used to
only because I was used to the first books narrator. Ledford did a fantastic job, I have several by her. Just different than the first.
Story was almost as good as the first book, fewer subtle jokes that I picked up on compared to the first one (maybe me, maybe the book) overall it was funny and the included short story for Pepper at the end was just as good as the main story.

Sp'ossels - The Truth! Wonderfully told!
Do you like SpaceBalls? Jasper Fforde's Fourth Bear? Michael Rubens The Sheriff of Yrnameer?
If those types of humorous SF stories appeal, this zany / wacky / and off the beaten path partially modeled after Star Wars story, like Space Balls, punny-esque book will appeal to you.
And the narrator match up to story is excellent. As good as Kate Rudd did in the first book in the series. This is one of the very, very few narrator swap outs that Audible has done well. (maybe the only one ... I don't know, I only have 572 books inmy library...) J.D. Ledford is on par w/ Jennifer Van Dyck and Seeker, or Jay Snyder and The Gray Man.

After a 3 year break, Rex and Sasha are at it again!
Rex decides to take a break from get-rich-quick schemes, double-dealing, double-crossing, theft, prison-breaks and the general mayhem and confusion that ensues and pursue a more rewarding and reputable career... piracy!
The new narrator, J.D. Ledford does a good job but I miss Kate Rudd's performance, from the first book.

Awesome escapism. Full of humor and science & fun
I bought the first one in this series, initially because I liked the artwork on the cover, i was pleasantly surprised by the fun and engaging storyline that Robert weaves throughout the books. The performance given by the narrator is nothing short of outstanding, and the commitment to the voices and characters makes this series more like watching a one person performance that reading a book. She's just incredibly good at the whole thing.
Highly recommended for some fun sci fi comedy that doesn't take itself too seriously. But still has great characters and a well fleshed out universe.
