Publisher's summary

The small kingdom of Weisserwald is overrun with darkness, but not all hope is lost. A brave warrior will save the day, at least, if he can stop falling asleep at the worst possible time! Police detective Parker Quinn is a lot of things - heroic, steadfast, handsome - but he can’t seem to keep his eyes open.

When an unusual group of people approach him with a fantastic story about his origin and duty, Parker is immediately concerned for the well-being of his family. The strangers know enough about him to be dangerous, and Parker has had enough crazy for one lifetime.

When Parker learns two old friends desperately need his help, he relents and hops on the crazy train right into his worst nightmares. With more gruesome creatures, villains, twists and turns, this fast-paced fourth installment of The Immortal Grimm Brothers’ Guide to Sociopathic Princesses is sure to keep you guessing.

And this time...we have dragons!

"The Evilist Evil To Ever Do Evil" & Dragons!

Parents- PG-PG13 - this is acceptable for preteens and up
Language- None
Violence- PG13- normal to genre, nothing overly graphic, abuse mentioned but not in depth
Sexual Content- PG - normal cozy romance with kissing and snuggles, no bedroom scenes to warn of

So many twists and turns in book 4!!! I do agree with the characters in the book that a family/character tree would be helpful to keep track of them all; I got swept away in each book and sometimes found myself trying to reconnect the characters from the first three books. The evil is creeping in and the prophesy is starting to unfold, the story just moves faster and is harder to put down... Especially with the addition of dragons! Being a dragon lover I was thrilled with the addition of them... would never want them in real life but they are so fun to read about. Definitely recommend this series to those who like the redone/twisted fairy tale adventures, this one is so far removed that outside of some happy endings it's not a predictable series.

Narrator- has good tone and is easy to listen to but doesn't have a lot of differentiation between voices, I preferred listening at 1.2x speed.

Good Story

I was entertained by book 4 of "The Immortal Grimm Brothers' Guide to Sociopathic Princesses" series. Although I liked the story, it's main character lacked a certain authenticity in my opinion. Parker Quinn was described as "becoming the youngest police detective", but as the story unfolded, this character seemed to lack the hardened edge that would be needed to achieve that accomplishment. I enjoyed the new fantastical creatures that appeared in this tale. I appreciated all the action scenes. John Ruble's narration was fine. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Exceptional story!

Autumn Awakens is the 4th book in the Immortal Grimm Brothers' Guide to Sociopathic Princesses series. I always chuckle when I see "sociopathic" in relation to the princesses we all know and love in those fairy tales from the Grimm Brothers. As we find out right at the beginning of each story, the tale we were told is nothing like the tale as it unfolded. The search continues to find all the family of the original children and their parents, and now it's taken us to York of New where Parker Quinn, the youngest police detective, leads the search. There are familiar names, brand new names, and updates on what has happened to the very first characters, but it all comes down to the search to thwart evil. This book was just a little bit darker and required a little more concentration with all of the names, but if you listen/read them in order, it shouldn't be difficult at all. John Ruble does an excellent job with the narration. His dynamic voice brings life to characters of every age group, gender and fantastical beings...trolls, dragons, chimera, witches and shifters of multiple sorts. Highly recommended!
