Publisher's Summary
A heartwarming and deliciously funny story about the world’s worst-behaved dog and how he trained his human how to love herself again.
Through the haze of vodka and self-loathing, Hazel Roundtree saw the poor creature lying in a ditch. One brown eye. One blue. Covered in mud and crying from pain, the puppy was desperately trying to free itself from a hopeless situation. She almost kept walking by. She had her own problems, and besides...no one had ever stopped to help her.
Who we’re ultimately meant to be is a journey without end, but there’s always a defined start....
Hazel had no idea the dog would be her beginning, her second chance, the miracle she never saw coming. She named him Atticus. He grew up to be a very bad - and completely awesome - dog. He took Hazel on a life-changing journey filled with mischievous adventure and painful heartbreak. In the end, Hazel grew up to be completely awesome, too.

I don’t even know where to begin with this review! This book was PERFECT!! I was looking for something different and this was exactly what I needed. Atticus was a heartwarming story about a girl, her dog and finding her way. I loved that this book was told in both Hazel and Atticus’s POV. This story is about hitting bottom and figuring out what really matters, find your way to happiness even in the most unusual way, making friends with people who may not be obvious but are exactly what you need. Beautiful story beginning to end!!! I laughed, I cried and my heart swelled!! The narration was incredible! She was perfect for all the characters, even the dog! Everyone has their own voice. Great casting choice!

Loved this Incredible Journey!
Atticus is more than a story of a woman and her dog. It is a brilliant story about how two beings find each other when they need them most. It is about their incredible journey from being lost and cast aside, to self discovery, resilience, and unconditional love. The moment Hazel found Atticus, and reluctantly saved him, their journey began to save each other. I was totally captivated by Atticus, and how this mischievous yet adorable pup could affect the lives of so many, especially Hazel. This unique and heartwarming story will have you in tears, both of sorrow and joy! Narrator Bahni Turpin, was amazing at bringing this beautiful story to life. Her voices were expressive and distinct and I especially loved her interpretation of Atticus. I loved every moment of this hilarious and heartwarming story!

Sometimes you just pick up a book and it's a favorite from the very first page. I read and listen to a lot of books. Around 150 a year. By the end of the year I'll probably remember a dozen that shone. This will be one of them.

Not so great. Not awful
I disliked the narration of Hazel. Her style was way to superficial which surprised me. Was Ms Turpin directed to be so lacking in vocal subtlety? The dog is NOT a bad dog and its tiresome to laugh once more at his antics. Loved the solid dog info tho. I couldnt figure out what this book is supposed to address: Self hel? Inspirational? Click lift? 22 step?

A wonderful, heartfelt story
Oh my word. Not quite sure where to start. What a story! So many feels. Having read and loved the book, I was so looking forward to listening to the audio. Bahni Turpin is a new narrator to me, and I’ve got to say she nailed all the voices perfectly, even that of Atticus. I can’t imagine I t’s easy trying to portray a dog. A story of self discovery. A story with so many emotions. I swear I don’t think I’ve laughed out loud so much whilst listening to a book. Atticus was so so funny. There were some extremely emotional scenes and I did spend the last 10% of the audio in tears, yes, even though I knew what to expect, I was still a blubbering mess. What a wonderful heartfelt story, the narration complimented the book so well. Most definitely one of my favourite audios of 2018, I definitely got all the feels.

Very entertaining!
I love the insight of dogs thoughts & mischievous plans and actions. Growing up on an animal farm with 3-4 large dogs, whacky cats, pigs, sheep, horses, and more I watched these & other behaviors of our animals. We had a Bassett hound who got up on our 3 ft+ dining table, ate both layers of 2 lb box of chocolates & left all the little candy cups & layer divider in place!
