Publisher's summary

"Attachments is so perfectly engaging, so sly, and so funny I read it all in one sitting, then went back and read my favorite scenes a second time.... I hope Rowell never stops writing." (Haven Kimmel)

Beth and Jennifer know their company monitors their office email. But the women still spend all day sending each other messages, gossiping about their coworkers at the newspaper and baring their personal lives like an open book. Jennifer tells Beth everything she can't seem to tell her husband about her anxieties over starting a family. And Beth tells Jennifer everything, period.

When Lincoln applied to be an internet security officer, he hardly imagined he'd be sifting through other people's inboxes like some sort of electronic Peeping Tom. Lincoln is supposed to turn people in for misusing company email, but he can't quite bring himself to crack down on Beth and Jennifer. He can't help but be entertained - and captivated - by their stories.

But by the time Lincoln realizes he's falling for Beth, it's way too late for him to ever introduce himself. What would he say to her? "Hi, I'm the guy who reads your email, and also, I love you." After a series of close encounters and missed connections, Lincoln decides it's time to muster the courage to follow his heart...even if he can't see exactly where it's leading him.

Written with whip-smart precision and charm, Attachments is a strikingly clever and deeply romantic debut about falling in love with the person who makes you feel like the best version of yourself. Even if it's someone you've never met.

Hard to follow

The majority of this book is a series of email exchanges between two of the main characters but the narrator doesn’t include the “to” and “from” each time she reads an email (although these are included in the written text). This makes it very hard to follow these long exchanges. I frequently had to rewind to figure out who was writing. The narrator does excellent voices but not including the email “To” and “from” each time made the book so confusing that I lowered the rating of the narration from 5 to 3 stars.

Fresh and Unexpected

I'd read 'Eleanor & Park' by this author and wept. This story is much more uplifting. Though it dragged in sections, I appreciated Rowell's ability to make the reader care about each of the individual characters as deeply as the main character. I loved that, Lincoln, really was just an average guy. So often in romance, we read about these unobtainable men or women that we cannot imagine or believe as real. I believe this was a saving grace to this story. Since we are so able to connect to the character, it allows us to suspend disbelief just enough to make the plotline and ending work.

Love the journey

I first started to listen to this feature because we share the same last name. I love the Journey Rainbow takes the reader on to find love. The story shows a belief that love never fails and when you find love...cherish it! Thanks DYANN Rowell

sobbing

I've read this book before but this was special. I thought it would be hard to listen because it's partly emails, but it flowed like a conversation without losing important pieces of story. I'm a character reader, so this was perfect for me. Lincoln is perfect.

the last hour, I sat and listened with my eyes closed to soak it all in, and if that's not an endorsement idk what is.

Better Than Expected

This book was much better than I first thought it would be. It was a little bit of a slow start and then when I realized it was going to be quoting their emails back and forth I put it down. About 6 weeks later I was looking for a new read and read some of the reviews of "Attachments " and decided to give it another try and I'm so glad I did. Picking up where I left off I was soon caught up in the story and increasingly enjoyed the characters' personalities. There were a lot of laugh worthy moments , well worth a listen!

so many aspects to love

The story had so many layers within the story. it helps to identify how complex relationships between people can be, yet seeing the total picture shows how with perseverance true happiness, understanding, and love can be found. The journey necessary for you to be ready for the ending.

Excellent!

Love this story, and love the narrator. All her books are unbelievable, but I think this is my favorite one so far. It's tender, and touching. Also, it made me laugh a lot. Who wouldn't fall in love with Lincoln? Great family relationships, showing a family of quirky characters that still have plenty of love to go around.

Rainbow knows how to tell a modern day love story.

Great story, it was never boring and the author made it come alive. Rebecca Lowman always is a joy to listen to.
