Didn’t get “attached” to the characters. Good storyline, but didn’t care if characters lived or died. Just ok w/ good ending

Not enough action for me to love it. It took until the end for me to actually get really into it. Trying to decide if I should read the next book or not. The setting and the story line were good, but the characters kind of fell a little flat for me. Not awful, but I wasn’t sad when a character died. I feel like a really good book will make you feel attached to characters and care about them & get mad with them, even though they obviously aren’t real. This book didn’t do that for me. Wondering if book 2 will be better or same as the first?
