Acerca de esta escucha
You are invited to sit at the table with Jesus in this insightful course.
"Do this in memory of me." Of all the teachings that Jesus imparted to his disciples, why did he ask that they remember him by sharing a meal? And what does it mean to follow his request today?
In these 12 engaging lectures, you will discover the historical context and development of the Last Supper and the Eucharist. As you explore early Christianity and the New Testament, you will come to understand communal meals as Jesus saw them: a way of sharing the Gospel.
Looking at the context in which Jesus lived, you will consider the religious significance of food in Judaism and the Greek concept of banquets. As you do so, you will come to understand Jesus' actions and what meals meant to the earliest Christians. Next, you will turn to the New Testament, exploring the Last Supper and the theme of table fellowship in Luke-Acts and the letters of Paul. Finally, you will consider the spiritual significance of sharing meals and celebrating the Eucharist.
At the end of these brilliant lectures, you will emerge with a deep understanding of God's creation and lavish love.
Take this fascinating journey today.

The Gospel of Luke and Acts of the Apostles are two parts of a single triumphant work. Each an epic work in its own right, together they proclaim the gospel message and narrate the gripping story of the Church’s early days. Using the metaphor of a double helix, Fr. William Burton asks you to imagine Luke’s gospel and Acts as a single account with many parallels or rungs connecting the two sides of the twisted ladder.

Historia
The four Gospels are foundational to Christianity. Yet Christian readers are often puzzled by the differences between the Gospels, preferring to harmonize the four into a single narrative. Now, this 24-part lecture course invites you to understand each Gospel's distinctive message. Along the way, you will examine theories about how the three Synoptic Gospels are related. You will also learn why the evangelists are symbolized by four living creatures: the man or angel, the lion, the ox, and the eagle.

Historia
Daniel had the most incredible career imaginable; he was transported as a teenage captive to a pagan empire and became the primary confidante to the ruler of Babylon. When Babylonia was taken over by its enemies, he rose to the second or third position in the Persian Empire. There are only two people in the Bible other than Jesus Christ of which no evil is spoken, Joseph and Daniel.

Reseñas de la Crítica
"Fr. Bill Burton's knowledge of Greek, Roman, and Jewish cultures, the very cultures in which Jesus lived and the New Testament was written, provides fresh and novel insights into our understanding of the sacred texts. For years, Bible Study participants have delighted in his accessible, eye-opening, and lively presentations." (Albert Haase, O.F.M., best-selling author and DVD presenter of SAYING YES: Discovering and Responding to God's Will in Your Life)

Outstanding course
This exceptionally well taught course transported me back in time. Fr. Burton has a knack for setting the full stage of the Last Supper by revealing how the first Christian's lived, thought, and ate together. I found new meaning into Jesus ministry and last days through this series, which I highly recommend to anyone interested in a deeper understanding of Christianity.
