Great experience and so well written

I enjoyed the earthy simplicity and untold toils of the family. The focus on nature was a wonderful escape from our fast paced world.

History come alive

Great story, with fact and fiction intertwined. I understand Liza Ross is an accomplished narrator, but would have preferred someone else for this book. She made some of the characters sound caricatured and somewhat squeaky.
