Publisher's summary

Juliana O’Neil’s promising future was burned away in the heat of battle. She had been an officer with a bright future in the military, but now she is struggling to survive. Her husband gone and her career in shambles, she finds a job at Top as a hostess and tries to put together the pieces of her life. The last thing she needs is any kind of male attention, but she can’t help but be amused at her neighbor and coworker’s lothario antics. Not that she would have anything to do with him, at least not for more than one night.

Javier Leones doesn’t understand monogamy. No woman could ever be enough for his endless libido, but he has to admit Juliana has his attention. For reasons he doesn’t fully understand, he can’t seem to get the gorgeous redhead with the sad eyes out of his head. After one scorching night together, he realizes he’ll never be able to get her out of his system. But with his reputation, he fears she’ll never see him as more than a one-night stand.

When their passions collide, these new lovers will be forced to confront Juliana’s past and come to terms with Javier’s present. Will they find their way, or will this reservation be canceled at the last minute?

Somewhat brief story about lover boy Javier

Unbelievable plot about how Javier abandons his sleezy hookup ways really quickly when he meets a courageous, calm amputee neighbor/co-worker. Good character development of a few new people related to MacKay Taggert and good narration though a dual narration would have been even better.

I know it's romantce... But...

The story flowed well and the love scenes were hot. But Chapter 9 (Audible Ch. 11)! It was so beautiful. Of course I'm listening to it again.

🌻I Love the Disabled Vets, theme in this series🌻

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

I love that Lexi Blake allows her readers to experience the physical and mental struggles that many of our Veterans experience. I tend to think that civilians often don’t consider or think about those that sacrifice for the security of this country! Good for you, Lexi!

This spin off of the original Masters and Mercenaries, focuses more on the Trials and hardships that disabled veterans suffer, rather than the D/s relationships. It is also usually less violent. The overall theme, in this series, is about these veterans difficulties, their struggles and their triumph! In this book, the Heroine and the Hero’s brother, are the disabled veterans. They are both amputates and are struggling with adapting their life to overcome their disabilities. This book also gives insight into the families, of these veterans, and their struggles with the helpless feelings they have while trying to help their loved ones through their recoveries!

I really hope that the romance and sexual elements of the books, in this series, don’t distract listeners from recognizing the true beauty, of these books.

Excellent book in The Topped series!

This was a great book. I absolutely LOVED it. Made even better because it was narrated by the Uber talented Sebastian York. It is a complete stand alone so anyone can enjoy it. I know I did.

Such an amazing tale of American heroes

The wildest fall the hardest. I loved the story of Juliana’s struggles to overcome her missing limb and how she helped other vets. This storyline showed how a couple of people handled their war injuries different and how people react to amputees. As with all of Lexi’s books there was hot sex and spankings.

Another book in the series...

Yes, its another book in the series. Nothing over the top like one or two that stood out. Other than that, it's same old same old... if you have already listened to Masters and Mercenaries... this book just blends right in. Doesn't stand out for anything.

Sebastian York is amazing as usual. He makes the book worth it.

Enjoy!

Could have been so much better

I was hoping Ryan West would continue the narration for the series. Sebastian York has a nice timber to his voice, but cannot get into the story like Ryan. Sounds a lot like he’s reading not acting.

Story was great. Narrator was awful

The story was fun and the characters were great but the narrator almost put me to sleep. Everything is delivered in a monotone. Thank god he didn’t have to do any accents because his accents are horrible. He makes a Scottish accent sound like the character is from Brooklyn. Painful! Please stick with Ryan West! He does a great job.
