With marriage, there are things you can and can't live with. Harry, my abusive husband, made that clear enough when he beat me like a dog, forced a miscarriage on me, and tried posing me as a hostage to my father's notorious biker gang, The Reapers. I was lucky enough to get out of my marriage in one piece but it's only a matter of time before he picks up my trail and hunts me down. Blackjack swears he'll kill him the second he steps foot in town. I know he means well but there's something about his stare when he tells me I deserve better.

Great Read
As the Snow Fell: A Lake Harriet Novel was a great read by Deanna Lynn Sletten. Mallory has been planning her winter wedding when she comes face to face with someone from her past. She ran into the man who she used to love. With him coming back into her life everything has been turned upside down. I loved Mallory and James’ story. I can’t wait to read more by Deanna Lynn Sletten.

A feel good romance!
I loved this story. Simply stated, it gave me everything I wanted from a romance. The characters were well developed and the plot believable. There was only one thing at the very end that I found far-fetched, but it was a minor detail and didn’t detract from the story. I found myself rooting for Mallory and James, two truly good people who were meant to be together. The tension waiting for these two to finally admit their feelings drove me to clean out all my closets so I could keep listening. There are few books I re-read or listen to again, but this will be one of them.
The narrator did a beautiful job playing out the roles and her natural voice was very pleasant.
I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a feel good romance.

A Sweet Holiday Themed Read
This is the first book by this author I have read/listened to. The narration is beautifully done and the descriptive words of the author are beautifully written. Ms. Sletten writes likable characters and situations that pull the reader into the story. Second chance romances are one of my favorite tropes and this one is done well.
Mallory's heart was crushed by her first love who left after she rejected his proposal. Not that she didn't want to marry James eventually but his impatience caused his departure.
Fast forward ten years. Mallory finds herself a month from her New Year's Eve wedding and thrown back into James's orbit. What follows is a journey of self-discovery by Mallory, James and even her fiancé Brent. This is a sweet story of rediscovering who you are and your true emotions despite thinking you have stored them away safely and moved on. There are a few unique twists along the way to the HEA and the ending is sweetly satisfying. If you like second chance and sweet romance this story is for you

Great second chance story
This is a great story about a second chance for love. James proposed to Mallory 10 years ago and she turned him down. She wanted to wait and he didn't so he left town. Now he's back and she's engaged and ready to marry Brent. When Mallory and James see each other, old feelings start to come back. She starts to see how Brent and his family are rich and snobby. She's more down to earth like James. But will she go through with the wedding anyway since all the plans, deposits and everyone is in town for the wedding? This is the first book that I've listened to from Deanna Lynn Sletten but hopefully not the last. I thought Jennifer Groberg did a wonderful narration.
