Publisher's Summary

This audiobook version of As A Man Thinketh is true to the original. Every word written by James Allen is spoken with clarity and authority by the narrator, making it easy to remember the information and absorb the timeless wisdom.

This short audiobook, originally published in 1902, has had a huge impact in the field of personal development. It is regarded as one of the most important books of the new thought era. It's written in such a way that makes it easy to understand the most powerful message you could ever learn.

The introduction of the audiobook summarizes the idea beautifully:

Mind is the Master-power that moulds and makes,

And Man is Mind, and evermore he takes

The tool of Thought, and, shaping what he wills,

Brings forth a thousand joys, a thousand ills:

He thinks in secret, and it comes to pass:

Environment is but his looking-glass.

Clear and beautiful

Would you consider the audio edition of As a Man Thinketh to be better than the print version?

I love the comparison between mind and garden. How we grow has to do with what we choose to cultivate and what we choose to weed out. The message really resonated with me and had a strong immediate effect on my consciousness. We easily forget our own power and this is a good reminder, a small step back to get a clearer view. It's short and it is a pleasure so I'll probably listen to it again.

What does Brian Holsopple bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I think his pacing is just right.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but I didn't seat, I went for a walk, that is why I use audiobooks.

The ultimate law of cause and effect.

The wisdom contained in the book is invaluable. It extols thought as the originator of all effects experienced by the individual. The thesis is simple yet deeply profound and may elude those who seek answers to their circumstances outside themselves and through other channels.
To be inner directed and guided by right thought is the essence of powerful living.

James Allen's delivers these ideas in a manner that is stuffed with literary genius. His use of the English language is efficient, hence the size of the book. However, dont be fooled by this; the size of the belies the tons of golden nuggets of wisdom it contains.

A Must Read

If our schools do not have our children read this book, we must. We must raise our children with all the wisdom available to us.

Principles to live by

A good listen.

Short. Full of principles to live by.
Have already listened twice, and on second listen got even more.
I suspect that the more I listen, the more I will hear.
Highly recommend this book.

Great timeless book and very good narration

What made the experience of listening to As a Man Thinketh the most enjoyable?

I like the narration. I listened to several excerpts and this is one of the best narrations for this book.

What other book might you compare As a Man Thinketh to, and why?

This book is about changing your character and have it reflect in your external circumstances. I find it more practical than some of the other 'law of attraction' books so I'll even compare it to a very practical self-help book like On Form by James E. Loehr and Tony Schwartz.

What does Brian Holsopple bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

I liked the commanding voice of the narrator compared to many other audio books I've listened to.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Classic Simplicity

A brilliant short book with brilliant ideas. Some Perhaps an over emphasis on the impact of personal effort on one's circumstances (there are many factors contributing to people's circumstances that cannot be controlled). Also, the gender biased language made me cringe! Understandable from the time it was written, but definitely outdated reference to 'man', etc. Otherwise wonderful.

Still relevant today

This book is referred to a lot and once read/listened to yo Wil understand why. A lot of today concepts are born from this book. Easy to sit through in one session with more usable info than a lot of longer books
