Caroline Kepnes' new book Hidden Bodies...

...was released today. I gave You a very negative review, but the narrator Santino Fontana is the best I have ever heard. The Voices of Joe is a short conversation between Kepnes and Fontana. It is a wonderful brief release.

Joe and the author

Any additional comments?

This 11 minutes could have been a part of book 2. It's interesting to hear 'Joe's voice" in the normal setting.

Caroline Does't Actually Meet Santino

While I appreciate free Audible content and enjoyed listening to this short discussion between author and narrator of two of my favorite audiobooks, I can't say I actually learned anything from it that I wouldn't have already guessed. It was more of a mutual love fest ("You're so great; you're the best"; "No no, YOU'RE the best") than any kind of real information-sharing discussion. Also, it was annoying that Caroline Kepnes was so obviously not present in the room when the alleged "meeting" was taking place. If she had to be patched through by telephone, was there literally NO way producers/sound engineers could erase the long-distance static and make it at least SOUND as if she was physically present in the same room as her interlocutor?

I feel like an ingrate even mentioning any of this, though, since it was free. Thank you for the free gift, Audible!

It is never enough

A short piece from Caroline and santino, but it gave me what I wanted. A glimpse into this unique marriage between author and narrator. I loved it. Give me more!

Santino is perfect for this role.

I really loved Santino as Joe in You. It was a perfect match and it was fascinating to hear the thoughts of the man behind Joe's character, as well as the author's.

Nice bonus

Loved the audio book You so much, so this was a sweet extra listen. Some interesting insight from the author and the narrator.

Not really much to it but fun!

Okay, well this isn't a story but I'll rate it anyway! I enjoyed YOU mostly because of the audiobook narrator, Santino Fontana. I just loved his voice and after searching Audible, sadly it doesn't seem like he narrates a whole lot more, or not a lot more that I'm interested. This interview was fun! Caroline interviewed Santino and then Santino interviewed her. There wasn't much to it -- it's only 11 minutes long -- but I liked how she said how much audiobook narrators motivate and influence a book. She ended up writing Hidden Bodies, well because she wanted to but she also had a motivating factor of Santino's voice for Joe and I think that's really neat! Leigh Bardugo has said before that she's written something for a character (Matthias) and then imagined the narrator's voice and reactions based on what she had written. Even if it's not direct influence, it's neat to really know that audiobooks interact with an authors writing and vice versa!
Also, thank you to this interview for counting towards my Goodreads challenge. It's novella and extra season, guys!

Santino Fontana still scares me a little bit, even as himself!

I haven't listened to You for a couple of months, but hearing Joe's voice again brought it all back. Looking so forward to the sequel. This is great to hear from the author and reader. Thank you audible.
