Hard to listen to

Hard to listen to. Predictable turns of phrases and stereo-typical interactions between mother and teenaged daughter. Painful, actually. Maybe it got better after the first chapter, but I didn't listen.

I couldn't make it past 5 minutes

I absolutely hated the way the relationship between the mother and daughter was constructed, it felt incredibly fake and the whiny teen voice didn't help anything. The dialog felt very forced, people don't talk to each other that way.

OK Book

This book was alright to listen to. It was short because of the first free chapters but I liked the story it was interesting.

Original and Cozy...Like an Autumn Read

Sophisticated fantasy/magic and mystery storyline based on an old fairytale. Probably would have never known about it had it not been offered first as a free chapter. I listened to the chapter and immediately bought the book afterwards. Solid writing throughout, and kept my attention. Worth a credit.

Cover Appealed to me the most!

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The mother-daughter relationship was not very appealing to me. And I must agree with the other reviews that the whiney-ness of the daughter was grating on my nerves. I don't know if girls really are that way as I don't have daughters, but rather sons, and after listening to their 'back and forth', and am happy to not have one of them like this character.

If you’ve listened to books by Carol Goodman before, how does this one compare?

No I haven't.

What three words best describe Jen Taylor’s voice?

Upbeat and higher registered. Good inflections.

Do you think Arcadia Falls: Free First Chapter needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I found myself focusing on the story rather than the narration. I believe I would rather read the book.

Very realistic, yet imaginative

I really like how the mother and daughter interact. The daughter is a typical teen, but with a lot of imagination. The narrative is very descriptive and flows well. One of the better free samples. It really makes me want to hear more!

Good idea that needs more work.

The free first chapter got me hooked but I was disappointed in the rest of the story. I thought the plot was erratic and repetitive.

Stunning imagery

A well-woven story of heartache and hope told through truly stunning imagery. As an introduction, this makes me want to find out what happens next.
