Publisher's summary

If there's anyone who knows how to have a good time—be it with a man or a woman—it's Ryder Pearce. Master of the nail-it-and-bail-it theory, he lives his life for one person and one person only: himself. When a man enters Ryder's life who challenges him on every flirtation, every sexual innuendo he can come up with, Ryder's thrown off his game in a big way. Because there's one thing the man has made perfectly clear—they've played this game before, and Ryder doesn't remember the outcome.

Avery Hamilton has seen all of Ryder's moves and has witnessed his sex appeal. He knows all too well about his cocky sense of humor and his penchant for one-night stands. There was a time in his life when he'd taken the bait, but this time around, he wants more. He's seen Ryder's act; what he hasn't seen is Ryder—the real Ryder he hides from the world.

When both men come together to help a young boy, Ryder's forced to face things from his past he's blocked out. Things he never wanted anyone to know. Now, Ryder has one fear . . . Will revealing that side of himself be real enough for Avery? Or will it be the reason Avery walks away?

Contains mature themes.

If you loved Drawn to You, don’t miss this one!

In the first book, Ryder is probably my least favorite character. A combination of comic relief and sexual buffoon, he was the least developed of the bunch. It took me a hot minute to commit to this title thinking it would be a hard to give him a full book. Also, the cover art model for Ryder reminds me of a buff Ralphie from A Christmas Story - a visual I could never escape. But I did commit and am glad I did.

Kirt Graves returns with another amazing performance. The addition of Avery’s family was very well done. I found myself questioning if the nanny, Elizabeth, was supposed to sound African American. This series is very Caucasian, I found the vocal treatment of that character a bit off putting. The text did not imply race, making that narrative choice unnecessary, if I am correct.

Ryder is quickly given a personality and back story in this book, becoming much more likable. Avery was clearly nuanced in the first book, so it was easy to see this relationship grow once Ryder became a real boy. The story surrounding newly orphaned Chris, Ryder’s demons and Avery’s savior complex is again well thought out by Quinn. There are some easily forgiven stretches, what the the odds that Nina is a licensed foster parent? But the story again moves well within this world of Brighton Pier.

At times a bit predictable, this feel good story hits note after note is a very satisfying way. While not a five star, this remains a highly recommended book.

Yes! Forever home and forever love.

Thrilled by the blossoming love between Avery and Ryder. The writer continues to weave individual stories that interconnect with the other characters.

Very good story

Enjoyable story. Main characters are so likable.
Just enough drama.
And no violent scenes thank goodness.
Kirt Graves was the perfect narrator.

❤️💕 Loved it

Another wonderful story in this series, one of my favorites so far. Just enough spice and angst, a wonderful addition to the story.
