The bed and breakfast also comes equipped with witchy Aunt Polly, troublesome garden gnomes, a town that hates her, newfound magical powers that misfire, and a werewolf boyfriend she shouldn’t have asked to move in with her.

When a guest is found dead during her grand opening, Lily knows she has to solve the mystery of what happened before the B&B is closed forever.

Lucky for her Aunt Polly is here to help save the day.

B&B Grand Opening: Murder

Any Witch Way But Goode is a continuation of Lily Goode. In the first book, Better Haunt and Garden Gnomes didn't really give much of Lily's past. Lily is uptight. She was willing to sell her inheritance until her attorney told her that her mother left a trust to fix the house and Aunt Polly fixing the house one project at a time.

Any Witch Way But Goode gives more of Lily's past. Her mother's abandonment really messed her up pretty badly. Lily, in some sense, feel responsible for her brother, Dante, and sister, Jesse and then discovered that she has another sister, Mara that she didn't know about.

Lily couldn't even share her past with Nolan who is patience and way too good for her. The only way Nolan found out about her past was that Lily's witch power accidentally drew Nolan into her flashback.

As Lily tried to solve the mysterious death of one of her guest at her B&B, she is learning to share her B&B and witch responsibility with her siblings and to depend on Nolan more.

Now the question is when will Lily's sister, Jessie going to show up in this series.

With Aunt Polly, there is always humor and laughter. I love this one scene when Aunt Polly wanted to be deputized to help question all of Lily's guests, each being a suspect in this case.

The narrator, B.J. Harrison delivers now that the story has a direction of where it is taking the readers/listeners.

Improves on the First, Really a 3.5, Dislike Lilly

This was a sort and sweet supernatural cozy, very clean, no cussing, and also really not much in the way of romance either. We continue to follow the Goode family as they open their bed and breakfast and a mystery quickly occurs. I still love Aunt Polly and her Gnomes and again was wanting more time spent on her and getting to understand more of the mechanics of the magic that runs through this family. I think even more than the first book this story highlighted once again that I am not a fan of the main character her behavior and the way she engages with others. I know they show aspects of her rough childhood to try and create sympathy but that's hard when it seems like all the characters in this story have had tough lives. Again we run into the issue that they often make the curse of unlucky and the engagement with the townsfolk so antagonistic as an audience I want to be like yeah this seems like a terrible idea why don't you leave. Lilly herself is often short tempered, accusatory, judgmental, and very self-focused. I was really thrown aback when early in the story she accuses her half sister who came down to breakfast in her pajamas of sleeping with the 18 year old guest. Nothing established about the character made this accusation seem plausible and was another example from Lilly comes off and someone I don't enjoy. Overall the faster pace and tighter story meant I felt this was more focused and better streamlined than the first story. Again there is something about the larger picture and elements that draw me in but it still continues to miss the mark a little. BJ Harrison is always wonderful but as in the first installment he recycles a few female characters voices so it was confusing at times to understand who was talking. If you are looking for a quick supernatural cozy with a cursed bed and breakfast theme this could be a really solid listen.

It Gets Better

This story is cute. The gnomes are still creepy and aunt Polly is just annoying. I like the siblings and Nolan. I like that all the familiars aren't the normal cat. This series grew on me and now I wish there was more than two books in this series. I like the sense of family and the new relationship Lily has.

Great Paranormal Cozy Mystery!

This is the second book in the (Un)Lucky Valley Series, a Paranormal Romance. Lily adventures continue in this installment. I loved this cozy mystery. Nolan, Lily's boyfriend, is very handsome, and supportive. The cast of supporting characters is interesting. I liked Lily's eccentric family. Aunt Polly is such a fantastic side character! The Sheriff is also a great character. The storyline is filled with magic, secrets, twists and turns, and sweet romance. I liked the humor in the story. B.J. Harrison did an excellent job with the narration. I enjoyed it. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Goode Story

4 Star story, 2 star narration.
The good; excellent storytelling, great cast of characters. Love aunt Polly and the entire supporting cast.
The bad; the narrator was not good. His attempt to do 'female' voices felt derogatory. And the add 'southern' voice of a character that was never mentioned to be southern was off putting.
