Acerca de esta escucha

This book begins in Kent with that oh so unfortunate proposal that we all love to cringe over. But what would have happened if the Collin’s maid stumbled across their heated tête-à-tête? And what would she do if she was Lady Catherine’s spy in the household, as we all know that she must have had one, right? And suppose the only thing more important in that great Lady’s mind to the preservation of the distinction of rank was the absolute unblemished reputation of the family.
Would our headstrong Lizzy cave to pressure? Would she marry to save her own reputation? I doubt it, but what of her sisters? Is it really a question, even if she absolutely loathes the man? Could such a marriage ever find happiness or would her unruly tongue get the better of her once again? We shall have to see….

Sound cuts out at the beginning of new paragraphs. Frustrating!

Audible needs to proof-listen to new texts it adopts. This is not a quality audiobook.

A Favorite ❤️

I was very entertained by this story. It was well written and different from others that just retell the original story with more angst. I’m not a fan of angst and dread how so many times vagaries pile it on. This story was fun without being fluffy. Elizabeth takes charge of her sisters with vital help from Lady Matlock. We are treated to makeovers for the girls and we live vicariously through the balls, parties and all manner of outings in London they attend. I especially liked the treatment of Lidia in this story. If I were to make an armchair diagnosis of her it would be ADHD with a side of manic depression and being exposed to so many older people that she wants to insinuate herself into their doings. However, she is too young and untrained to know how to act. Mrs. Bennet is definitely manic depressive with her uncontrollable anxiety and speaking nonsense followed by long periods of bedridden depression. In either scenario she cannot be reached to be consoled or instructed. Mrs. Bennet sees herself in her youngest daughter and indulges her every whim which turns her into a mean person with a feeling that she is above reproach. As Elizabeth warned, her character is fixed but maybe in this story there is hope for her yet. Everyone in the Bennet family has issues because of their parents but the only one who could have changed the outcome has no interest in his family. Mr. Bennet has let things go for so long he feels overwhelmed and helpless to be of any help. Some people should not have children… This VV is the one I can most tolerate although there are long pauses at times that are annoying but otherwise not awful. All in all this has become a favorite book of all the P&P vagaries and I have read over a hundred of them. Such a fun premise. I look forward to reading more from this author.
