The business of love is dangerous. For Jennifer Kent, a recent MBA graduate who has been searching for work in Manhattan for four long months, time and money are running out. If she doesn't find work soon, she'll need to return to her native Maine, where the job situation is even more bleak. And where her abusive parents lie in wait.

When an unorthodox arrangement is proposed, Jennifer decides to take it. She agrees to be the "girlfriend" of Alexander Wenn, the reluctant, billionaire CEO of Wenn Enterprises, who is so devastatingly good looking, he needs a beautiful woman like Jennifer on his arm to "keep the wolves at bay."

In this case, the wolves are other women, all of whom vie for his attention so aggressively, they keep him from focusing on business at the exclusive events he must attend. It's there that deals are cut. What they want is his money and his power. Damaged by a past event, the only thing Alex wants to do is focus on work. And to forget the past.

But can Jennifer deny their white-hot chemistry? As she's swept into this glittering otherworld of society and big business, she finds herself struggling to keep from falling for Alex, an almost impossible feat she nevertheless must meet.

Armed with her MBA, Jennifer Kent knows about business. But what she doesn't know is what could destroy her - the business of protecting her own heart. And maybe her own life.

This is the review for Vol 1-2....

I like this story... love the h-character... but it is just lacking something. I mean... it has everything a typical romance book like this is supposed to have...but it is just lacking something...

In vol 1, it takes forever the drama and action to get started... I mean it's like chapter 6 before the two main characters even come together... And when they do, it like instant chemistry... no build up... No fighting or nothing... just sparks... then the CEO (our H) hires the h to be his filter girl...(to keep the wolves at bay).

They fight b/c the H tries to embarrass the h, and she is a pretty tough cookie and don't play that.

I like that about our h... her personality shines bright throughout the story...

Ok... so Vol 2, we spend yet again 2/3 of the vol for the H and h to reconnect. I mean seriously... can we get to the hotness already... O...by the way, there is no smexing in vol 1. We don't get to that till the very end of vol 2... WTF! Seriously... Idk... I just.. felt like so much of their problems could have been avoided if they would have just talked to each other, and let go of some of their pride...on both sides...

Anyway... like I said... it was a good story, (it not done yet either), but I just fill like there is something lacking... Idk if I will invest in the other volumes... maybe just wait until all the vols are out, and listen in one setting...

It's worth a sale... but I would save my credits or buy on something a bit more... satisfying...

So on the fence with this series

Reba did a wonderful job narrating this book. This is my first time reading and listening to this author. I just wanted a little sample but I got hooked. Thanks Amazon for referring this series.

Enjoyed it!

For me this story was OK...the story and characters work just fine. Nothing really new but the production quality is bad. It sounds as though the narrator is in a empty metal building. It was very annoying. I adjusted to the narrator but she is nasal my least favorite sound. She is capable of giving a good performance. The characters were interesting enough for the credit.

This is an OK story

The book wasn't bad, but the performance had some kind of construction noises and a smoke detector with a low battery that definitely weren't part of the story. It pulled me out of the story and distracted me from what was happening.

where did the record this?
