Don't be put off by the sample's audio quality.

I listened to the samples of all the different recordings of his book, and I liked this narrator best, but I almost didn't get it because the audio wasn't great. When I got it, however, the audio quality was great. Barbara Caruso does a great job.

Good story, well narrated

Any additional comments?

The narrator does a really good job on all of the characters.
The story was better than "Anne of Windy Poplars" and as good as the more widely known first three books in the series.

A dreamy home for Anne

This was a delight -- the only drawback seemed to be the mispronunciation of several words; of particular annoyance was any reference to Gog & Magog, as the narrator kept pronouncing Magog as "Mā-gog" rather than "Mah-gog"... other than that distraction, was extremely pleased.

Another Great Anne Book

Another great Anne book. My phone isn't showing all five stars to rate it, but that's what I give it. It is captivating as the rest of the series.

Love these books

Barbara Caruso is the best narrator. She does an amazing job with each charactor. I find myself chuckling out loud quite often.

A faithful take on a childhood classic

Old books can often simply feel dated. While this one isn't entirely exempt, it is also singularly charming and life affirming in a way that one rarely encounters anymore. Earnest and heart-warming without becoming saccharine.

A favorite Anne book

I love Anne and Gilbert’s house of dreams and it’s so fulfilling to finally get stories of their life together. I like the new friends they meet, tho I wish Diana made a proper appearance. I know they live a ways away now, but there’s only a very short mention of going back to Avonlea for Christmas. There are lots of interesting people in their new town tho, and some true friends. As with all L.M. Montgomery’s work, there’s sorrow with the sweet. Anne and Gilbert loose their first baby shortly after her birth, Anne’s friend Leslie is trapped in an unhappy marriage and one of their elderly friends dies, but it is all handled with sensitivity and compassion, and life is good more often than not. Literary comfort food.

Another great Anne story!

Another great Anne story! It is very interesting to see Anne grow up and now become a mother! All of the stories so far in this series have been great, although the first is always the best of them all.
Highly recommend this story. Narrator had the perfect "Anne" story telling voice! She played Anne's character well!

Great narrator, but rough cutoff points

The narrator read the voices well and I have always enjoyed Barbara Caruso, but instead of allowing listeners to follow the real chapters, the book was divided into 45 minute sections. Since I started and stopped quite often, it was never easy to find my place. What made it more difficult was how the voice was chopped off before properly finishing the sentence, which made it even more confusing, especially if I was distracted or fell asleep. For the price, that was disappointing.

Still love these books

I read the Anne books when I was a girl and I loved them. Almost 20 years later I've now read them again and I still love them. Not only do I love them still but I can appriciate the writing more today. It is beautiful and romantic but also oh so funny and heartbreaking, in a well balanced way.
These books give me that achy feeling that Anne somtimes describes, when something is so momentary and beautiful it hurts a little.
