Marla's story is inspiring and relatable. I read the book when it first came out several years ago and decided to listen to it because it's read by the author. Hearing Marla read her story added a dynamic that I had not picked up on from reading it. I loved hearing Marla's voice, like hearing your best friend tell you the most exciting adventure of a story. It felt like I was right there with Marla, experiencing each moment just as she had. Worth your time and the money!

I was riveted from the beginning. Marla Frees narrates her memoir, and hearing her express her own written thoughts really brings the content to life and makes the experience all the more engaging. But it’s the content that kept me deeply reflective and completely attentive. Like a great book, I couldn’t “put it down”!

Marla’s story is truthfully illuminating about a part of life that most of us consider and think about often, yet are unsure how to create a tangible bridge where we truly feel that elusive connection. Still if you’re like me, you may only have previously been privy to glimpses of a part of life we all sense exists. Marla is the real deal, and her memoir is such a complete exposé into her legitimate connection with that part of consciousness, that her story and her experiences shared therein will be something I imagine many will find common to their own lives—whether directly or indirectly. She has had such an immersive life of connecting with the spirit world and the greater collective consciousness, it almost acts like a roadmap as to how we all can personally seek and find connection with a part of life so many of us yearn to experience.

American Psychic weaves the story of her life, full of varied and even dysfunctional experiences. Through the ups and downs of her life, her sensitivity has been tuned and has yielded an incredible awareness and connection with that collective consciousness. But while listening, I found myself mirroring so much of my own life with aspects of what she shares. It made the experience all the more personal to my own life, and I imagine many others will resonate with aspects of their lives and the synchronicity they will find along with Marla’s. It really does expose a commonality within so much of our individual and collective human experience.

This book can easily land with a wide audience because of that vital common denominator which she exposes that we all share. Listening to her mellifluous read was a pleasure, as it flows and keeps the listener fully engaged. Upon its completion I was left with a palpable sense of hope and grace and even personal reverence, which I found to be honest in its fulfillment. This story is indeed a “must hear” (or read), as the net result is a strong sense of positivity, which is what I seek to find with any great book. I fully encourage others to tune into what I found to be a fascinating experience—enjoy!

It is counterintuitive to think that abuse and childhood trauma can be gifts to reveal courage and love, but in American Psychic, Marla inspires us through her own voice and insights from her experience. She shares a way for each of us to discover deeper wisdom and love.

RIVETING!

This book took me on a journey of being fascinated, mad, and intrigued. I laughed out loud a few times. I cried a few times. I was riveted the ENTIRE time and if I had to stop, you know, to cook food, take a call, sleep...it was all I could think about.

I was quite impressed with Marla's candor and artful decoration of words. I could picture everything happening. Seamlessly, she went from the past to the present.

Marla’s book was so amazing. Listening to what she went through in her life that led her to being a medium was so interesting and well written and well read!

The best book I e read EVER

My only complaint is that it’s over. This was amazing beautifully written and read. Very resonant for me I loved it so much!

Beautifully written story of psychic gifts and supernatural support.

I couldn’t put this book down.

Telling the story about how psychic gifts are developed is like trying to catch lightning in a mason jar. And yet, Marla has somehow done it beautifully with honesty, skill, and grace. This book offers healing for people with psychic abilities that were born from childhood trauma, help for those who search for answers from beyond, and a glimpse at the entertainment business as well as the world of Spiritualism.

I found many “connections” to my own life and shared many laugh out loud moments as well as a few tearful ones as I binged listening to American Psychic.

Great storytelling and an honest look at what it’s like living with Spirit!
