American Heroes

Daniel Morgan, along with other generals, captains, soldiers, and militiamen in the South Continental Army are true American heroes. When I come home each day to my loving wife and daughters, I remember those soldiers marching through tough winter days, sustaining horrid wounds, starved, and battled fatigued. It was by their direct action, to stand up to the British despite any odds or hesitation, that I enjoy the luxury of my family and peace in my free nation. I am grateful for their selflessness and hope their history is preserved and spread, such as in this great book. God bless America and those who sacrifice themselves for the values that sustain the nation.

After visiting the Cowpens and finishing the book it all became clear

VERY well written, and perfectly detailed Historical narrative

Sometimes these war books, whether it be civil war, WW2 or the revolution, can come off as a wordy historical recap of an event or person. THIS book however has the perfect amount of depth and detail used in the exact right moments that it reads like a thriller. I am an SC native and there is a Daniel Morgan statue in the downtown area of my town. I’ve never heard the battle of cowpens story in any kind of detail. I’ve even visited the battlefield and this is the first time I’ve known of its significance.

Riveting

Covers a monumental battle with a brilliant narrative style transitioning between pwrsonalities, geogrpahy, strategy, and tactical details. Masterfully narrated.

History at its best

Well researched and documented, this account of Col Morgan's campaign set in the context of the Revolutions southern campaign is as much a clash of characters as a historical record. Great fun and great narration.

Excellent storytelling.

Thus is a brilliant example of compelling nonfiction storytelling. Excellently narrated with a voice that lends credibility to the writing.

Exciting from beginning to end

Great story, great performance, perfectly executed. Held my attention from beginning to end. No unnecessary fluff.

Fantastic story telling

I really enjoyed this story, particularly the parallel storylines bouncing back and forth between Morgan and his militia men and Tarleton and his dragoons. You can feel the tension as they get closer and closer to Cow pens. The narrator does a fantastic job of narrating the battle and the aftermath. Great listen that I've listened to multiple times. Highly recommend.

More Books Like This Are Needed Today

The story is well-written and kept me engaged, although a few parts were a little more tedious. The author did a good job telling the stories of the participants and including interesting details. I also liked the narrator. All in all, I think today's generation would benefit from more well-written accounts of our history like this.

Goosebumps

I go to Cowpens to go hiking around the battle grounds and I knew the significance but after hearing the stories I get goosebumps every time I go there. Thank you Daniel Morgan. American Hero. WOW
