Publisher's Summary

Alvin Baylor's life is not turning out as expected. He was tasting glory as a cyber-athlete, until scandal ended his career. Now he spends his days at a dead-end job in a constant hangover haze. And with the North America of 2117 fractured into corporate territories, who can blame him?

But Alvin is about to get a life-changing proposition: serve his corporate overlords on a secretive delivery mission to an asteroid-mining colony. In exchange he'll receive a bonus that will pay off his debts and change his fortune. Or he can take option number two - the unemployment line.

Riding an all-expense-paid cruise to the frontier of the solar system, Alvin has every reason to be optimistic. But he's in the dark on a couple of key details. The prototype he's delivering is a technological marvel that will transform the world...and a mysterious female assassin is coming to steal it.

It's the opportunity of a lifetime...but Alvin Baylor just might pay with his life!

Alvin Baylor

The plot of the story has lots of action, a little sex, a little profanity and some violence. There are some funny parts too.

A Blast of a Listen!

A world of corporations competing against governments with people caught in the middle. Overall, a compelling combination of space opera, intrigue and a bit of action making it a blast of a listen. On top of the interweaving story elements the cast of characters were skillfully brought to life to the listener by Josh Horowitz's voice acting.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Space pulp fiction

This book involves a has been gamer named Alvin who works as a calibration tech for a large asteroid mining company. He is sent to retrieve a piece of equipment and it is expected he will be eliminated upon it's retrieval. The entire story is about his fumbling moves from a washed up failure to the leader of a group fighting to save humanity. He encounters scorn, love, hate, and suspicion that must be overcome for him to accomplish his task.

The narration is good except for the sound effects meant to simulate radio traffic and other issues. These parts are hard to understand an should be closer to normal speech.

This book was provided free of charge with the expectation of an honest review.

Space Adventure

Overall, I enjoyed the story and production of this audiobook. It did take me a little while to warm up to Alvin, the main character, and I wasn't particularly keen on the sound effects used with the audio. However, once I got past those things, the plot kept my interest to the end. I would listen to any sequel in this series if one came along. I thought the narrator did a good job with the audio production. A worth space/sci-fi adventure.

Fantastic Story!

Both the writing and narration are impeccable in this flawlessly executed science fiction tale. I hope there's a sequel.
