Love this series

The performance was good
The store was a little confusing with the back-and-forth. I like how the author dove deep in the villains backstory he didn’t do that in the other books, so it was surprising to see that, but there were still questions that needed to be answered, but I think he saving that for next book (I also think the book would’ve been even better with full cast and with music in the background)

Loved it!

I really loved the back story and that we got to peek into the past to really "see" how things went down. I also like the connections the characters have to each other in this universe, it's cool to see your old heroes appear! (don't tell them I called them old!)
I always look forward to Ben's books, but I do think he could benefit from a better editor or beta reader? Small things, I would get lost in the story and be taken out of it by an odd sentence or repeat of something already said recently. I know the overall direction the story is going, what he's getting at but it has me hitting the back button in confusion. That being said, I so want to see him succeed-- for people to see these worlds! (I totally volunteer to help btw 😊).

Give in and just listen to this great book

Lord of Eternal Light was my fav but this one was so good. I swear the author is getting better and better. If you like this author if say do it! The voice actor is decent but always had a way of making the leads sound older lol maybe just me but if we are strictly speaking of the story it was great! More like a Little Red Riding Hood story and perfect.

Don’t know about this one

This book could have seriously used some trigger warnings. There’s a lot of domestic abuse and I’m not here for it so I couldn’t finish. Author is fantastic though I love all his other work :)

Contrived

Yet another queer fantasy romance with potential that falls boringly flat. The antagonist always has the upper hand, the protagonist has no agency or depth, and the plot only works in a vacuum where no one has any actual power or capacity for logic or emotional intelligence. The few sex scenes felt brief and uninspired. My husband couldn’t even finish this one. The reader did a sufficient job but chapters and other transitions tended to blur together due to a monotonous pace.
