Publisher's summary

A desperate young alpha. An older alpha with a hero complex. A forbidden love that can’t be denied.

Young Xan Heelies knows he can never have what he truly wants: a passionate romance and happy ever after with another alpha. It’s not only forbidden by the prevailing faith of the land, but such acts are illegal.

Urho Chase is a middle-aged alpha with a heartbreaking past. Careful, controlled, and steadfast, his friends dub him old-fashioned and staid. When Urho discovers a dangerous side to Xan’s life that he never imagined, his world is rocked, and he’s consumed by desire. The carefully sewn seams that held him together after the loss of his omega and son come apart - and so does he.

But to love each other and make a life together, Xan and Urho risk utter ruin. With the acceptance and support of Caleb, Xan’s asexual and aromantic omega and dear friend, they must find the strength to embrace danger and build the family they deserve.

This gay-romance novel by Leta Blake is the second in the Slow Heat universe. It has a strong, happy ending and a well-crafted non-shifter omegaverse. It features alphas, betas, omegas, male pregnancy, heat, and knotting. No cheating. Content warning for brief sexual violence.

Hurt/Comfort Non-Shifter A/B/O Mpreg

Michael Ferraiuolo does a fantastic job with the narration. He brings out each character's stubbornness, desire, strength, and comfort so well and really brings each character to life. His character voices are pretty easy to follow (though I personally wish Xan and Caleb had less of a similar tone), and ultimately made my listening experience a real joy.

Alpha Heat is a non-shifter A/B/O romance told in a dual third-person POV featuring a lot of hurt/comfort, plenty of sexy scenes (no cheating), some knotting, and male pregnancy, with a hard-won happy ending all wonderfully narrated by Michael Ferraiuolo.

It's, at times, a hard read with what Xan, Urho, and Caleb go through, but the ending makes it all totally worth it.

I'm going to be honest. I thought I'd read/listened to Slow Heat but it turned out I haven't. And while I would caution against doing the same, I did manage to work through most of my questions about what was going on except for one. Seriously, though, I need to get to the first book so I can find out why everything is 'Wolf' this and that but no one shifts. Regardless, my ignorance of the initial world-building did not diminish my enjoyment.

But, maybe don't make my mistake, and start with book one.

Amazing!

Alpha Heat is book 2 in the Heat of Love series. I love this story about Xan, Urho, and Caleb. It shows just because you're different doesn't mean you can't be yourself, love who you love, and all be happy together. Just because their relationship isn't conventional doesn't make it wrong.
Narrator Michael Ferraiuolo does an absolutely amazing job.

A beating forbidden love story.

I adored Xan in Slow Heat and SO wanted him to get his own HEA. Urho fights against the forbidden love between two Alphas but Xan is irresistible and when he finds out the truth about Xan and his Omega’s arrangement he can do little to fight his growing attraction. A lovely story with a perfect HEA.
Michael Ferraiuolo once again does a superb job narrating this novel. His voice acting is sublime and he makes a great story even better with his performance.
Highly recommended to lovers of non shifter omegaverse novels.

Beautiful Sequel to Slow Heat!!!

Wonderful Continuity of Characters, wonderful Narration! Uhro and Xan are amazing and Jason and Vale are throughout this book, as it should be! I'm a straight female who for some reason loves romance and presently, love M/M romance. Though sex is a theme - Leta gets the overwhelming Love across - and it does not seem silly. I accidentally purchased a couple of books by authors who portrayed this type of alpha omega love and male pregnancy and it just did not work for me. I think that's why I put these books off, I noted several months after purchasing that this was the theme and decided I would not like it. Leta's other books got me going... Will & Patrick Wake Up Married , the entire 7 book series- I absolutely LOVED - therefore it led me to explore Leta's other books - Any Given Lifetime is also 5* and UNIQUE - she explores some intriguing themes in both Will & Patrick as well as Any Given Lifetime - so I discovered I still had Slow Heat on my Kindle. I was immediately drawn in - and had to buy the audibles as well for both Slow Heat and Alpha Heat! Excellent narration, excellent intriguing story! I lost sleep over all the books including these, driving for what happens next! I love it when an author can resonate with me giving me that insight into the person, what they are feeling, thinking. In this book Jason and Vale are existing in an post apocalyptic world where women have died off because of cataclysmic conditions and scientists have found a way for the human species to survive - this is a bit may december with the 18 year old versus 37 year old omega. The natures of these two, their personalities - the family and extended family and friendships are fascinating to me - and it seems somewhat plausible. There are no cell phones and they are building the world again somewhat from the ground up - though it's been probably 50 years since this upheaval actually happened. I have thoroughly enjoyed this book - and it's narration as well as Alpha Heat - they are 5 Star as well - and I applaud Leta for being one of the rare authors who provides continuity of characters through the 2nd book - My view - you don't start book 1 with the main characters having great friends and family connections around peripherally most of the time and then go to the Secondary characters in the 2nd book, and hardly hear anything from the main characters from the beginning of the series - She flows seamlessly into the 2nd book and in the Will and Patrick Series and doesn't belabor details from the old books - Absolutely enjoyable throughout all her books - I bought a bunch more and hope I enjoy them as much! Thank you Leta for giving us character POV and insight and individual struggles! I look forward to your future work - BTW your narrator choices for your books have been stellar so far! HOPING for Will & Patrick 4-7 coming out in Audible!!!!!

Fantastic

I love these books. I wish the narrator were not so flat on some parts.

Amazing narration!

This is one of my favorite books, so I was excited to “read” it again. And lucky for me - Michael Ferraiuolo absolutely nailed the narration! The voices were perfect and everything. I’ve only listened to one other series narrated by Michael, so I definitely plan to check out more of Michael’s narrations.

As for the story - this is my favorite omegaverse series. Leta’s world is brutally real and her characters flawed and navigating a lot of challenges. There are quite a few parallels between what happens in the book and what happens in the real world. This book also has an incredibly well written polyamorous relationship with one man who is asexual. I’ve re-read these books multiple times and will for sure listen to this again at some point.

I highly recommend this audiobook!

The true gift of creating diverse fully realized characters that I cherished.

So much love, acceptance, each character was truly "themselves". This Author is gifted and can create a world in which it is easy for the reader to feel a part.
