What would you do for 41 million dollars? For Elizabeth Samuels (a.k.a. Sam), it's not some hypothetical what-if. Sure, lesbians love to bring a U-Haul on the second date. But what happens when the U-Haul crashes? For Amelia Stone, it's a literal question as much as a figurative one. When plans to move in with her girlfriend go sideways, she's left with more questions about their future than answers. It doesn't help that she's spending far more time with the paramedic who came to her rescue than the woman she's supposed to be in love with.

Things didn’t exactly get off on the right foot with Noah Cavallari. Our first encounter was embarrassing, to say the least. But despite that, I found myself waking up every day with a newfound energy. Nothing exciting ever happened on the lake - not until Noah moved into the small boathouse on our property. When my mother became ill, I inherited the responsibility of making sure our guests were well taken care of.

Ever wanted to murder a character? You will
Kate, one of the protagonists in this novel is so completely annoying: oblivious, obstinate, stubborn, idiotic--she runs the other protagonist, Mo,around for the entire book. The only conflict in this novel,by-the-by, is that Kate refuses to acknowledge that Mo is in love with her. She spends the entire novel lamenting the fact that she has loved Mo since college and will never be able to have her, even though Mo tells her a bajillion times that she's in love with her and wants to be with her. It's the most irritating thing ever. By the midpoint of this book I just wanted Mo to kick Kate off of a cliff and call it a day.

BORING!
I really wanted to like this book. But it was impossible. Its was long, drawn out, and boring. I love the character Moe but Kate is whiny and repetitive. On top of all of that........there is NO hot sex scene. I never stop a book in the middle but I contemplated stopping this one several times. The first book was great. This was a terrible follow up.

Ugh kate
Kate is the most annoying person ever!!! Im sorry but if I was Mo I would've gave up on kate in Mexico. Not worth the drama, she acts like a teenager. I really wanted to like her. It's not a bad book but I don't think I'll ever listen to it again, kate is just too much of a HEADACHE!

A love story 16 years in the making.
Mo and Kate have loved each other since college. Lived together for most of their adult lives. it takes a vacation in Cozumel for them to say the love they always shared. I loved having Ried and Julia a part of this story. The long talks but misunderstood emotions. The journey of walls crumbling, truth being told and loving each other to protect the new us. This a hard love story with insecure hearts all around. Abby Craden gives life to so many moments. A great listen for all the feels.

I want to scream.
I loved these characters in the first book, but there is a problem with too much of a good thing. OMG, they made me want to smack them both. Just be honest for Gawd’s sake. What is with the “I can’t tell her” bullishxx?
And why do these women have so many sexual issues? Julia, Kate… I suppose it will be Terri in the third.
It’s well written, and well performed, but these whiny characters lost me.

A good sequel
While not as great as book 1, book 2 was still good.
I have been irritated with characters before, but for some reason, Kate drove me crazy. I know there were issues she struggled with but I almost could not handle any more angst.
There were a couple of adult scenes. They weren't bad I just felt like I traveled the angst train enough that there should have been this unbelievable burning with passion moment between the two of them.
I'm not stopping here.
Book #3 is waiting in my library.

Liked it
Out of the 3 in this series, this was my least favorite. Just letting you know though...I paused many moments before typing that. They all have their good parts and bad parts. Since this is the second in the series, you know the two MC’s from the first book and that makes it that much better.
I am not sure why there are a fair amount of bad reviews or why they don’t like Kate. Sure, I wanted to smack her upside the head a few times but that’s the beauty of it! And quite honestly, until you have walked in someone elses shoes and experienced what they did, you will never know the half of dealing with what she did. Sure everyone deals with things differently....which is exactly the point btw.
I say...read the series in order. Not critical but definitely helps and makes it more enjoyable. Besides, Abby Craden is the narrator. Pretty sure I have a slight crush on her.

Excellent #2
This was so much better than I expected. Kate’s character development was great and the trip to Mexico was different enough from the one to Hawaii in the previous novel to work well. Now I have to get the 3rd novel in the series.

Angsty and romantic
Abby Craden can narrate any book and make it so enjoyable. Some parts of the story line fell flat for me. I really liked how the writer dealt with some of the darker themes of Kates history and how Mo helped her through that.
I really like angst in romances and this had me intrigued for the most part. But at the end I felt somewhat frustrated with Kates reasoning behind not taking the initiative to get with Mo. When they finally did get together I felt like I didn't get enough of them actually being together as couple (both intimately and affectionally) so I grade the overall story as 4/5. Narration by Abby Craden is 5/5 as always.
