Publisher's summary

Are you able to give your first impressions a second look? In this lighthearted and humorous take on life, Knox McCoy explores questioning and examining long-held ideas that no longer represent how we think.

What would it mean to really examine what you think you know about yourself and your beliefs? To not just rely on the cliches you’ve always recited to yourself but to look deeply into why you think what you think?

In All Things Reconsidered, popular podcaster Knox McCoy uses a unique blend of humor, pop culture references, and personal stories to show how a willingness to reconsider ideas can actually help us grow ourselves, our lives, and our beliefs. In this laugh-out-loud defense of changing your mind, Knox dives into a variety of topics including:

  • Are participation trophies truly the worst?
  • Is it really worth it to be a ride-or-die sports fan?
  • Do we believe in God because of the promise of heaven—or the threat of hell?
  • Does prayer work? Is anyone even there?

In a world where we’re divided by political, social, and religious differences, All Things Reconsidered is a hilarious and insightful book of essays that reminds us of the value of reflection and open-mindedness.

Critic reviews

'It has been my great luck to find Knox McCoy. His effortless, on-the-spot humor, while making me seethe with envy, absolutely translates to the page in All Things Reconsidered. In this book, you will find masterful storytelling, relatable humanity, and an unexpected story about picking up Cheesy Gorditas from Taco Bell in the drive-through with a naked friend. I'm just saying there is a lot in here, all hilarious and surprisingly tender. Knox is an American treasure.' Jen Hatmaker, author of Fierce, Free, and Full of Fire: The Guide to Being Glorious You
'In a world that worships certainty, Knox McCoy invites us to give our first impressions a second look and reconsider what we thought we knew for sure. With grace-filled humility, hard-won wisdom, and just the right amount of ridicule, Knox's writing continues to challenge, entertain, and influence the way we talk about what we believe. I adore this book, and I hope Knox continues to write books forever. This statement needs no reconsideration.' Emily P. Freeman, Wall Street Journal bestselling author of The Next Right Thing

'In All Things Reconsidered, Knox McCoy is engaging and imaginative as he paves the way for the rest of us to examine, and perhaps question, long-held ideas that no longer represent how we think, what we believe, or how we feel. In a fast-paced culture like ours, this is the reminder we need if we are to contribute our own thoughtful, creative, and sometimes new ideas to the larger conversation.'

Suzanne Stabile, author of The Path Between Us and coauthor of The Road Back to You

Great listen!

Fantastic audiobook! Funny, thought provoking, and thoroughly enjoyable. Love how he shares his thought processes with us and is so honest and vulnerable.

A gift

This book offered an intimate look into the life of someone who has done the hard work of deconstruction and reconstruction. It was also a wonderfully fun thing to read.

Enjoyable Read!

I was first introduced to Knox McCoy through the Popcast, the podcast he co-hosts. I love the way he and Jamie banter and discuss hard and sometimes difficult topics honestly, while also somehow making them funny and light to listen as well. When I heard about his second book coming out, I knew I had to get it. As a fellow enneagram 5, I related to so much of what he said. But even if you're not an Enneagram 5 (or have no idea what that means), Knox tackles the largest and smallest of issues and topics in a way that is smart, witty, and enjoyable. I finished this book so fast and didn't want it to end. Get it! You won't regret it.

Loved and needed this book

I didn’t know how much I needed to read this book. I have apparently been ‘reconsidering’ a lot of things. There is something comforting about how the author reads his words and I will forever hear footnote as footNOTE from now on. Thank you for this book.

A fun book to listen to and more

I really enjoy Knox McCoy and his podcasts.
This book is funny, mostly light but also touches on some tougher things.
Knox is a christian and talks about his christian upbringing and some of the things he has reconsidered about his christian upbringing.
He also talks about Full House, Big Bird, lots of sports things, etc and how he has reconsidered popular opinion.
I think everyone will enjoy this book.

Timely and relevant

I loved hearing Knox read the book. His personality makes his delivery of the argument even more compelling. I would recommend this book to just about anyone. The way Knox mixes “trivial” topics in with more serious ones keeps the tone of the book from being to heavy yet paving the way for the reader to start a path of reconsideration. He essentially says “use your brain” but in a very nonjudgmental way.

Exactly what we need.

Knox perfectly describes the tension of modern Christianity and what it means to be an adult today. To want people to understand and see one another. Eternally grateful for his words.
