Story
Being a hit man has its perks, but I never thought getting an accidental mooning by an attractive PI while he’s caught on a fence would be one of them. While it’s not exactly love at first sight, he’s captured my interest and won’t let go. Suddenly, I find myself caught in a game of cat and mouse, determined to attract the attention of Jackson, the PI who should be my enemy. He pretends like he’s not flattered by my flowers and the mentions of my totally-not-fictitious blow-up doll, Randy (or was it Dandy?), but I know better.

Publisher's Summary
You can’t bargain with death if you’ve already sold your soul.
Special agent Patrick Collins has been reassigned by the supernatural operations agency to New York City. Navigating his new relationship with Jonothon de Vere, the werewolf he’s now soulbound to, is nothing compared to dealing with territorial disputes between the vampires and werecreatures who call the five boroughs home. But the delicate treaties that have kept the preternatural world in check are fraying at the edges, and the fallout is spilling into the mundane world.
Manhattan’s club scene is overrun with the vampire drug known as shine and the subways have become a dumping ground for bodies. When the dead are revealed as missing werecreatures, Patrick and Jono find themselves entangled in pack politics twisted by vampire machinations.
Learning to trust each other comes with problems for both of them, and the gods with a stake in Patrick’s soul debt aren’t finished with him yet. Bound by promises they can’t break, Patrick and Jono must find a way to survive a threat that takes no prisoners and is stalking them relentlessly through the city streets.
Old and new betrayals are coming home to roost but the truth - buried in blood - is more poisonous than the lies being spun. Trying to outrun death is a nightmare - one Patrick may never wake up from.
All Souls Near & Nigh is a 104,000 word m/m urban fantasy with a gay romantic subplot and a HFN ending. It is a direct sequel to A Ferry of Bones & Gold, and listening to the first book in the series would be helpful in enjoying this one. Please see the disclaimer at the beginning of the book for content some listeners may find triggering.

Loved it more than Book 1!
I LOVE this more than the first book! We get to know more about Jono. He's thisclose to being perfect! His relationship with Patrick has gotten more complex with the soul bond, and their small pack. I enjoy the gradual pace of their relationship, where they're discovering how one meant that much to the other. Of course, Jono being a protective growly alpha wolf is just all sort of awesome. I love how Patrick isn't a helpless partner too. His magic is strong, even stronger with Jono's "assistance".
What's more interesting is that I learned a lot more in this book, the Aztec mythology is completely new to me, it fascinated me. The appearance of The Coyote was a great plot twist too.
Vampire turf war. Aztec gods going cray. This book was one crazy ride and I cannot wait for book 3!
As always, Gary Furlong's narration was excellent.

Supernatural super fight
I loved A Ferry of Bones & Gold and so was super excited when this book came out. I tucked it away and only when the third book was released did I decide it was the right time to listen to it. I’ll start out by saying this book is as violent as the first one (I mean an all-out war with the Gods in Central Park isn’t likely to avoid bloodshed, right?) That being said, I would say this book is more graphic, the descriptions more vivid. The content more disturbing. Did it lessen my enjoyment? No. But I also feel it’s important to get that issue out there.
So, on with the story. Patrick Collins is back. He’s a mage agent for the supernatural operations and his job is to try to keep all the paranormal creatures in line. Keep them out of trouble. Keep the human mundane inhabitants of New York City safe. In the last book he was soulbound to Jono, Jono is a werewolf who offered himself up as sacrifice to save Patrick’s life. He also has the God virus. Although not deadly, it does set him apart. He’s been packless since coming to New York, even though he could be a great leader.
Various factions of the supernatural are at odds, including vampires and werecreatures. Patrick gets dragged into the middle of it all. During the 30-day war he killed the Mother of all Vampires and that death is coming back to haunt him. He may no longer be in the army, but he’s still law enforcement. As a mage he has some magic but there are also limits. When he pairs up with Jono he’s able to do much more. The problem? He’s not used to having a partner he’s accountable to. Jono makes it clear the solo routine is no longer acceptable.
When Patrick and Jono rescue a young werecreature named Wade, they get far more than they bargained for. They take on not just a surly teen, but a young man who is not as he appears. Wade a source of comic relief. Anyone who’s been responsible for feeding a male teenager can appreciate the humor. The funny bits fit well with the serious story. Drugs, destruction, fights to the death, and other horrible things are happening. Add in some Aztec Gods and Patrick has his hands full.
I want to mention Gary Furlong. He’s a favorite narrator of mine and I love how he performs this series. His American accent works well and his Brit for Jono is brilliant. Another great adventure with more to come.

ENJOYABLE SERIES
Full of action and lots of tensed moments. I like the plot. So many different paranormals, the weres, vampires, immortals and mortals all playing politics. My favourite, of course are the two main characters, agent Patrick Collins and Jonothon de Vere. Their concern and care for each other is very touching. It's a great series. Hailey Turner is an excellent writer. Well written book. Gary Furlong narrated/performed the book flawlessly and smoothly and brings the story to life. Most enjoyable. I just purchased Bk 3 in the series and I hope there will be more books to come ASAP.

I didn’t think anything could bring this series more to life than Hailey’s already done with her amazing writing but Gary Furlong is fantastic. The completely unique voices he gives to each character is basically like going from VHS to boy-ray. Still the same action and excitement but so much sharper and tangible. Great story
Either the narrator is getting better, or I'm getting used to his style. It was easier to distinguish characterizations in this one. The story was great. I really like the development of the relationship between Patrick and Jono. I also liked the interactions between the different pantheons. Wade is very well done. Of course a fledgling dragon would be a petty thief. You have to start your horde somewhere!

action-packed page-turner
I liked this book even more than the first. Souls Near Nigh is another fast-paced, action-packed page-turner in a fun world of magic, vampires, a teen-aged dragon, and more. I like the way the plot is progressing with exciting possibilities for the future! Now that Jono has a pack, the series just got more interesting. I can sense more happiness for Patrick and romance :)
Gary does a good job of narrating, especially with Jono.

Epic, detailed, otherworldly!!!
Hailey is in her own world with her creations and this is no exception. I love Jono and Patrick.
The story follows on from book 1 and the world is detailed, dynamic and at times complicated but Hailey's writing draws you in and enraptures you. So many questions need answering and while on this epic adventure even more questions pop up. I love the back and forth between Jono and Patrick as they navigate their new soulbound and unsanctioned pack they have formed. We learn more about both men and I love that Jono's alpha and powerful nature is finally able to take hold and he is able to take action against the current God Pack alphas.
The story is an intricate web and you never know what's going to happen next. Some great new characters are introduced and we see all the original favorites. I look forward to seeing where Hailey will take us next.
If you're looking for a new world to dive into, with adventure, darkness, steam, and dynamic characters that will keep to on your toes, then look no further than this series. It will enthrall you!!! I'm loving it!
Thanks for reading!

Great Series
There's just so much happening in these books, I'm blown away by her world building and I love the "detective"/mystery aspect of it too. ITs a well thought out, unique world, with a fantastic storyline and romance. What more do you want? I really think Gary was the perfect narrator for these! the more I listen to him the more I love him

Very good sequel!
This is such a good story arc, especially if you like ancient mythology.
This picks up from book one. The world building continues with some more gods, vamps and werepeople giving Patrick grief :)
Here we see more of Jono and Patrick's burgeoning relationship; they make a great team, (with a few others), and a great couple.
Loved this action-packed and brilliant sequel.
Gary Furlong is a really good voice for the series - it's hard for me to believe he's the same person that does an awesome Scottish accent! He coneys Patrick's snark and other humourous parts of the story so well. But really, he voices all the different characters (and there are a few), so well, there is no trouble knowing who is speaking at the time.
This is definitely a series I will continue to follow!

Here be dragons?
I love this second book in Hailey Turner's Soulbound series and Gary Furlong continues to do an excellent job of bringing Patrick, Jono and the rest of the packs to life. This time it seems to be South American/Aztec gods that are at the instigators of Patrick's current case. This was another thrilling tale as Patrick and Jono forge their relationship into something even stronger than before. There are a lot of problems within the were-shifter community and they only escalate as hidden truths begin to emerge. Highly recommended for all lovers of Paranormal MM romance thrillers.
I can't wait for book 3!!

fantastic follow up
I really enjoyed this book. the story continues and is so gloriously complicated. the relationship is growing slowly, no insta love here and it feels like the right place. I'm loving the new characters and there's so much potential.
the narration is excellent and as a Brit, I commend Gary Furlong on his English accent. it's so nice not to see English men portrayed as upper class and snooty so well done Hailey for writing Jono so well.
can't wait for the next one.

Epic story
This was a great listen. I loved the book, the emotions, the action, the intrigue, but I go too fast trying to get to the finish line.
Listening to the story was great as I heard details I had missed on my first read and Gary's voice is perfect for Patrick and Jono.
I can't wait for the next one :-)

Dark Paranormal Story
Very intricate, enjoyable, complex paranormal, mystical story. The world-building is incredible and detailed, but I was a little confused by the number and mix of various gods and paranormal factions. That didn't ruin my enjoyment on the story, but I do wonder if my understanding would have been a little better if I had read or listened to Soulbound Book I first. I absolutely loved Patrick! He was so bold and brave and fearless, no matter the challenge or risk, and Jono was the perfect companion, support, and lover. I look forward to more in this series, and now I definitely need to go back and grab the first book.
The narration was terrific, especially the way Gary seemed to pronounce all the complex god names so effortlessly. Great job!
