Publisher's Summary

A dramatic new Alien novel, as Weyland-Yutani seeks to recover from the failure of Hadley's Hope and successfully weaponize the Xenomorphs

With the failure of Hadley's Hope, Weyland-Yutani has suffered a devastating setback - the loss of the Aliens they aggressively sought to exploit. Yet there's a reason the Company has risen to the top of the food chain. True to form, they have a redundancy already in place...the facility known as "The Cold Forge".

Remote station RB-232 has become their greatest asset in weaponizing the Xenomorphs. However, when Dorian Sudler is sent to RB-232 to assess their progress, he discovers that there's a spy aboard - someone who doesn't necessarily act in the company's best interests. For Dorian, this is the most unforgivable of sins. When found, the perpetrator will be eliminated with extreme prejudice. If unmasked, though, this person may be forced to destroy the entire station...and everyone on board. That is, if the Xenomorphs don't do the job first.

Great story line

Nice to see the aliens as a part of the story but more interesting sub plots taking center stage. And the narrator was OUTSTANDING.

Awesome

I am a big alien fan and this book definitely delivered. Dorian was awesome he really carried the story along with blue. I loved the back and forth dialogue so much I must have listened to the chapters several times because it was so engaging. This is I think the best audio book I have listened to. The aliens were definitely scary also.Dorian was an asshole but a much needed one also. The narrator was very good and it seems all characters came from different voices.

Dorian made for a flawless story

I am a huge Alien fan. I have many of the books. Seen the movies over and over. The Cold Forge is a masterpiece. Dorian is the perfect antagonist. There are few fleshed out antagonist leave a long lasting impression on me.

1. Annie Wilkes
2. Patrick Bateman
3 Dorian

Alex White did an excellent job with his characters. I felt for Lucy, Blue, joviar, and especially Dorian. Michael Braun was excellent. Please please team up again.

Hey Alex can we get a prequel for Dorian? He is pure narcissistic evil. The definitive sociopath. I actually about the aliens for a brief moment to delve into the mind of a monster.

Excellent, great book. Had me on the edge of my seat for the whole 11 hours.

Great book! Great narrative!

So much fun to listen too! I liked the narrative. Any story where I'm actually like 'I can't wait to get back to my book to see what the jerk so and so does next' is a good book.

The Best Alien Book Yet

Truly loved the characters and their ambiguity. The Aliens were truly monstrous and written oh so well. Thank you Alex White for bringing the horror back to aliens.

Pretty good addition to the series

This book was somewhat similar in plot to the 4th Alien movie but brings some fun new elements to the table. It seems to be more about the humans than the threat posed to them by the aliens. The book started out pretty slowly but, once it picked up, it’s intensity continued to increase. The narration was top notch.

Movie Worthy

What can I say, great story, great narration. Visceral action and suspense combined with smooth storytelling. This book put me into the universe and didn't let go. This is what Alien Resurrection should have been instead of casting a weak story about a Ripley clone. Alex White hit a home run!

Why can’t the movies be this good?

Absolutely brilliant story from the Alien universe. A creepy and intriguing tale that builds and builds, delivering tense thrills, suspense and action with characters you actually care about.

Great read, but...

The characters are all pretty unlikeable. It wasn't until the last third of the book that you finally feel like there's someone to root for - and that's more of a strong reaction against the villain, rather than any love for the protagonist. If you can resign yourself to that fact, this is actually a really good book. A fast paced, exciting book. I enjoyed this over any of the full cast dramatisations I've listened to, which I have always enjoyed.

Superb book.

Do yourself a favour and go out and pick up a copy of Alien: The Cold Forge. From Aaron Percival here at Alien vs. Predator Galaxy, I award Alex White’s Alien: The Cold Forge a 10 out of 10.

One of the better extended universe tales.

The narrative starts with a slow burn, perfect for an Alien story. Characters and locations are well defined and Michael Braun is makes for an engaging narrator. The only real shortfall comes with some of the more action heavy set-pieces: they feel scattershot and messy, undermining the otherwise tight prose. This is a nit-pick however and overall I really enjoyed The Cold Forge.

Silly Alien story

The plot is so telegraphed it might as well have been read on sign posts. Moral of the story, do not mix dangerous virus that somehow attacks everything electronic in the same lab as a load of Monkey based Aliens. I listened to it twice, because I couldn't believe it was so bad!

Sadly it was!!

The best Alien book I've listened to - Excellent

If you like Out of the Shadows, this will blow you away!
It's like Aliens with a dash of Hannibal Lector thrown into the mix - great story, with great characters.

Alien franchise via HardSciFi is a gripping tale

Astonishingly well thought through and riveting tale that takes the HardSciFi route combined with relatable corporate intrigue and human greed. Its a refreshing take on the 'blue-collar-grunts fight monster in a maze" trope that defines the genre by layering some solid SciFi ideas and building a credible universe of a dominant but not infallible mega corporation.

Great book for lovers of the Alien universe.

After listening to the audible original voice acted books I struggled to get started with this, however about 10-15 minutes in I was hooked. The voice performance was performed well to the point of me being able to differenciate between characters and the story was great too. I'll be jumping straight in to the next one in the series.

Brilliant.

I’ve been waiting for a fresh and inspired new story in the Aliens universe and this was it. Not connected or tagging along with any other stories..sitting nicely somewhere in the Amanda Ripley/Isolation era..tho she’s not a character. It’s a story that depicts humans as being the worse species and juxtaposes morality and ethics with very vulnerable people. This story..just..nails it.

Hard to tell who the real predator is...corporate or alien

Riveting story from the opening paragraph, and the ending was satisfying, but I would never have guessed it even up to it’s denouement.

Basic story is, The Cold Forge is a scientific research outpost of Weyland Yutani where they are experimenting with Alien ‘eggs’, looking to find ways of controlling them. What the company doesn’t know though, is that at least one of the resident scientists is not what they seem.

Enter Corporate Representative, Dorian Suttler, “toe-cutter” extraordinaire. An arrogant, self-possessed narcissist who takes pleasure in others fear and discomfort.

Rather than being afraid of the aliens, he admires them....especially after they are freed by a rogue project.

Sit back and watch the body-count.

This book is very much as good as the original that started the whole thing. The suspense, the horror, the way it worms it’s way into your psyche and makes you look over your shoulder the further into the book you get.

....perfectly narrated by Michael Braun

Worthy addition to Alien and Aliens.

wow! this was fantastic! the story was totally engaging, human (and android) characters are as interesting to hear about as the scenes with the creatures themselves, and performed excellently throughout. Side note, it’s great to have a new alien story that doesn’t feel the need to involve Ellen Ripley in some weird far-fetched way. Just new, exciting characters! very much a worthy addition to the first two outstanding movies.
