After endless years of fighting in a galaxy-wide war, the most decorated super-soldier of the Old Federation was granted leave, sliding into a stasis tube aboard a sleeper ship. The ship never reached its port, and the soldier woke up a thousand years later on an operating table. The Old Federation was gone, most planets hurled back into the Stone Age. Androids used to mingle among us, pretending to be human. Then an alien puppet-master altered their programming. Unknown to us, androids began leaving human society, burning their clothes and peeling off their skin to reveal the chrome-colored bodies underneath. They gathered in a system were a star had exploded, blowing away the atmosphere of a Jupiter-like planet. The supernova had hurled heavy metals against the remaining core. The androids are mining supermetals that can turn ordinary ship weapons and shields into invincible armaments.

Story
Billions died before humanity clawed its way up from the brink of extinction, defeating the aliens that treated us like mere beasts. After years of agonizing toil and hardship, we have finally built a first-rate fleet, forcing our hostile neighbors to accept our freedom. But in the center of the galaxy, a bitterly vengeful woman discovers the secret of the Plutonians. She is going to awaken them so the extraterrestrials can attack us with the deadliest ships in existence. If the Plutonians destroy our fleet, the others will surely swarm in like locusts and kill us.

Publisher's Summary
AD 2457. The longest space voyage in history has begun: 230 light years from a ravaged Earth to the pristine star system of New Eden - a beacon of hope following the Doom Star days. Aboard the ship are human colonizers, the Space Navy, fierce “Monitors” once bred to fight Cyborgs, and four “Specials” - humans with psionic abilities, capable of ripping holes in space to jump vast distances.
But one Special has his own agenda and when an alien presence makes an offer he can’t refuse, the entire mission takes a deadly turn.
Cyrus Gant, a former dust-dealing gang member from Earth’s subterranean slums, is onto the renegade Special. And while his psi powers aren’t as strong as he might like, Cyrus’ street smarts more than make up for this seeming disadvantage. This will be crucial, because as the ship makes the final, frightening leap toward New Eden, Cyrus is everyone’s last hope for survival.

Ignore the title
A welcome change in plots! The poor boy enlisting in earth mercenaries, the daring flyboy caught and thrust into the stars, earth becoming mindless monsters while a group of survivors try to save the human race, All these cookie cutter listens were left in the dust by this book. I welcomed the change! The action was nonstop, so much so that at the end of the well narrated book, I had to pay close attention or the next chapter had?? In it. Never did get the tie in to the title though. Perhaps another reviewer can explain to me......

Sci Fi?
I got interested in Heppner, because of the Invasion series. I have read the first two books in that series and will continue on with it. I believe Heppner and B.V. Larson to be very similar writers. They are not the best writers in the world, will not win any awards, but they come up with the more interesting story concepts. They write about things, we think we would like to know What If? about.
This is more Fantasy then Sci Fi. Involves a lot of telepathy. I knew there would be some, but did not realize it would be so much a heavy part of the plot. I got half way through it, but could not get myself to want to listen.
If you like telepathy books you may like this.

Telepathics in Space!
An unlikely hero is kidnapped, trained to be a member of a space mission, fights aliens during a space battle, and joins the underground resistance on a large space station. Then the book abruptly ends, but the story continues in a sequel. It was like having a cool drink on a hot day, only to see it snatched from my hand and told to pay again for another sip. Alien Honor should be a 5 star, but the author has been charged with “attempted manipulation”.

start with book 2.
the first book probably wouldn't have inspired me to keep reading. I started on part two unknowingly, and loved the book, but the ending was so unfilling that I did not get to book 3 for a few years. 3 was good too, so I went back and listened to book 1. as a whole, the complete series is verry good. just start on two, then one, then three. HOWEVER, book one was kid friendly, but two I listened to a second time with the kids and remembered where to fast forward, but three....? book three had so much talk of tits and a@#, no way will it be played with the kids. the author should have kept it family friendly like book 1. I hope he reads this.

The start of what looks to be a good series.
I'd have enjoyed a bit more action and detail. But as it stands it's the right amount for a good listen. The imagination behind the story is great, some really interesting ideas. I'm looking forward to it developing and evolving in the next book.

Solid book in Heppner Style
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Yes, was different than other Military Sci-Fi but worth the listen if you like good old fashioned pulp fiction which is like most his stuff.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Alien Honor?
The main character escapes from his captors.
Have you listened to any of Jeff Cummings’s other performances? How does this one compare?
No.
If this book were a film would you go see it?
Yes.
Any additional comments?
The author is like watching a great B grade movie. Some of them are much more enjoyable than Hollywood blockbusters. I really look forward to the next one.
