Publisher's summary

When virtual reality meets epic fantasy, things are bound to get feisty.

Alexa Drey arrived in the virtual land of Barakdor a complete novice, but now she’s getting the hang of it, now she’s starting to have fun. As her and her powerful companions travel from Castle Zybond to Brokenford, a strange draw pulls them west, and the adventures begin.

In this, the third book in the Barakdor series of books, Alexa must learn to stand on her own feet, face down her enemies, and try to work out who her real friends are as she battles through the land. If she doesn’t, she will certainly fail in her quests.

All the while, a force from beyond the mists lurks, waiting, watching. A force that Alexa will have to face soon enough, the only question is: Will she be strong enough when the time comes?

great as always

Ember Lane delivers some of the best gamelit books on the market. The characters are all fully realized with personal goals. The plot develops smoothly and mechanics are internally consistent.

Just keeps getting better.

This book is another example of how good Ember is as an author. The plot and characters just keep getting better and better. My only complaint is having to wait for future audiobooks. :)

How long til the next book??.

This is the fourth book i have read/listened to by this author and I am again trying to wait patiently to listen to the next one. I love the style of writing. There are stat updates but it is definitely not the focus of the story. I love the interplay between the characters and the mystery behind Alexa’s entrance into the game. She finally crosses paths with Lincoln, but this story is still hers.

This is the second book I have listened to by this narrator ( Stephanie Dillard ) and I would definitely listen to another. I like the voices she chooses for the characters. She brings out their individual personalities and therefore varies the cadence of her narration.

There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence or swearing.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Lincoln

The only good part of the book. Feel cheated by the author for the awful writing done after book one. Slow, confused, fragmented story telling and MC.
