A great continuation of a great series!

Alcatraz and his eccentric family are back, continuing their struggle against the sinister Librarians in their hilariously weird world. Everything readers have come to associate with the previous entries in this series is here - absurd and occasionally lowbrow humor, made-up words, fourth wall breaks, self-deprecating jokes, bizarre Smedry talents, and references to well-known literary works (including an entire chapter that borrows from Hamlet in an amusingly warped way). This book also provides a pretty big twist in the ongoing story arc regarding Alcatraz's parents and what they're up to, setting up world-changing stakes for the fifth book.

Once again, Ramon De Ocampo is a good fit for Alcatraz, continuing his energetic performance and appropriately comedic delivery.

Highly recommended, though anyone who's read the previous books would already know that.

Can't wait until the final part

This was a far more engaging book than the prior one. There were some jokes which dragged out a bit but over all this is another solid entry to this series. I'm more than a little curious to experience the conclusion!

Sanderson fail

The first 3 books weren’t too bad but this one is monotonous! Only finished it to finish the series

Loved it!

My 9 and 13 year old boys giggle through this as we listen to a chapter each night before bed. Imaginative and excellently read/performed.

Wasted words

This one could have been called I don’t have enough to write a full story. Instead of expanding on what could have been a really cool ending every other sentence was an interruption of the dialogue. It got so bad sometimes I had to rewind just to remember what was actually going on in the story. How many times can you listen to someone call themselves stupid before you want to stop listening.

That filler episode of series

This book is fun, and interesting, just not as good as the others. Must read for completeness, still.

Sanderson returns to form

Sanderson returns to form in this fourth installment of this YA series that nevertheless delighted this adult. The chapter riffing on Hamlet was worth the price of admission. Again, cannot say enough about the amazing narrator of the audio book, Ramon de Ocampo.

Super fun!

Once again, Brandon Sanderson knocks this one out of the park! While it may be for younger readers, as an adult well into my 30s, I found this entire series to be a lot of fun! Plenty of excitement, humor, and of course, a "wow-factor" that only Brandon Sanderson can deliver!

Narrator

Ramon De Ocampo does a fantastic job of translating a book clearly written to be read in physical form into something that can be fully understood in audio form.
