Publisher's summary

For years, Skye tried to escape the abuse of her wealthy, influential family. Long after disappearing, her battle continued.

Skye appeared to live the perfect, privileged life of a physician's daughter. When she turned 13, she began to realize something was terribly wrong about her circumstances. In heartbreaking detail, Skye shares the extreme escalation from medications to numerous abusive institutions to ensure her silence.

Silenced with her father's reputation and influence, Skye shares her struggles to get to safety, fighting into adulthood to extricate herself from the grasp of a powerful man at all costs. Skye recounts her descent into drugs and trafficking, surviving a Michigan homeless shelter as a teen, and beating the odds to join the Air Force. As she enters training, Skye struggles to find support or belief from her wingmen and must fight to keep her place and her clearance.

Moved from Florida to Texas, Michigan, Idaho, and Montana, Skye boldly shares the heartbreaking state of the pediatric pharmaceutical industry, the caveats of powerful parents, and the paradox of the missing child's voice into adulthood.

Heart wrenching and motivating

Incredible journey through the hardships Skye has had to face throughout her life, while giving her listeners motivation to face and overcome any obstacles that come our way. To also hear it straight from Skye as she intended through her narration let’s you connect to her story on an even more personal level you rarely get with other biographies. Must read, highly recommended listen!

Diamond in the Rough

This is a really good book for individuals who have experienced challenges as a teenager and into young adulthood. The fact that the author had the ability to pick herself up after trauma is an aspiring quality.

One of the chapters reminded me of this show I loved called, Higher Ground with Hayden Christensen. I really enjoyed that chapter a lot. Then when Skye enters the military…I could really relate to some of that stuff.

A ride of emotions - couldn’t put it down!

I just finished ‘Alacrity’, and am currently sleep deprived as I stayed up into the wee hours reading the book. The fact that this book is based on a REAL life story makes it that much more of a gut-punch. If you’ve had, or even known of, parents who were just not right, outfight cruel, this book will really hit home.If you’re just looking for an exciting read about one woman’s journey through survival, it’s a good read for everyone!

I hugged my own children extra hard after reading this. The reader is transported to the childhood hurt and pain, and the desire to reach through the pages and just gives the author a hug. Galvas truly encapsulates her childhood thoughts and emotions, speaking like an actual young teenager would. She then seamlessly transitions to the voice-in-your head thought catalog of an adult woman who’s been through literal hell and back. This book would make a great movie. Better than all the top latest best-sellers hands down

Inspiring

It is inspiring to hear someone make a meaningful life for themselves against all odds! Many heartbreaking moments that may have led most to give up, but she persevered. I listened to the audiobook over 2 road-trips because it was so hard to stop listening once I started! Great book highly recommend.

One of the most powerful testimonies I’ve ever heard/read!!

As a recovering alcoholic & having volunteered with abused kids for 7 years as part of my service work, I’ve seen & heard a lot. As heart wrenching as her story is, what stands out is her tenacity through it all, when most would give up!! This is more than a book…it’s a journey Skye herself takes you on by reading it to you herself. Thank you for persevering Skye, for your service to our nation, & for sharing this incredible testimony!!!! Numerous people will benefit!!!
